5 / 5 Best meal we’ve had on the Camino. Homemade, everything in house, including the salami, cheese, and bread. The owners were so warm and encouraging (patient) with our Spanish. The house is 600 years, with the same family living inside from generation to generation. I imagine this is what pilgrim meals used to taste like, before commercialization/processing of food. We loved it so much we came back for breakfast!
Can’t speak to the hotel, as we didn’t stay there, but wish we had!
5 / 5 Lovely host, very hospitable and great value for money. Food was good, home cooked and could ask for more 🙂
Spacious room with comfy beds and even a (small) bath!
5 / 5 Amazing value! Such kind hostesses. Food was home cooked and delicious. Room had everything we needed and felt quite cool - was a great escape from the heatwave! Would highly recommend. Thank you so much for having us :)
5 / 5 What a dream. Came in from the rain with my husband after 27km hike and received a very warm welcome. We were shown to our double room which had a bathtub! Scorching hot water and super cosy beds. We had a great nights sleep. Something akin to sleeping in your grandmothers house as a child- only there is more food! Maria, our host, was incredibly attentive and supplied us with ample quantities of homely food and good wine. Would recommend for a wholesome local experience at a great price.
Bonus: breakfast served with delicious fresh cheese from neighbours cow!
4 / 5 As the name implies, this is a rural place… so don’t book expecting all mod cons. The power sockets in our room would not safely fit any modern round European plug, and one was just bare contacts with no faceplate. The radiators, while present, did not function… frustrating as we’d just had a day of heavy rain. However, blankets were plentiful and so we were not cold once in bed.
Amenities in the room aside, Maria was a lovely host… and boy can she cook. I think, without exaggeration, this was the best pilgrim’s meal we’ve had since leaving France. The red wine was nice, the vegetable soup made with meat fat was lip-smackingly good, and the huge plate of super-thick-cut veal steaks would have fed an army.
The soup and meat were followed by some amazing cheese and quince paste - both of which I believe were homemade.
I’d go back in a heartbeat just for the meal alone!
