Our car broke on the highway on our way back home, and we ended up staying 3 nights at Iacobus. We were verry warm welcomed by Ana. She and the staff were verry friendly and kind. . Although we had a lot off stress getting back home, we were so grateful to be there. Ana was so helpful with everything we needed. The garden is gorgeous and the food was good. Beautiful place. Surely recommend 👍🏽👍🏽 Muchísimos gracias Ana, Mari and staff
Arriving in Castrojeriz exhausted, we were welcomed by Anna, who immediately made us feel comfortable. Taking care of our laundry, providing for a simple tapas lunch. The place is well maintained and welcoming. The terrasse is wonderful and the bar open all afternoon!
Hotel Iacobus is housed in a beautiful early XX Century building in Castrojeriz, fairly well kept and with a beautiful terrace overlooking the mesetas. The room we were given was large and sufficiently clean, even if few details would need proper attention (e.g. a light was not working and the shower holder was broken). The hotel also offers a daily menu for dinner at a reasonable price and with the great benefit of extreme flexibility of dinner time. Breakfast is adequate. The service is warm and kind, even if the hotel bar, full of both tourists/pilgrims and local customers, drains lot of the staff attention. Definitely recommended.
3* for the location, the quality of the building and the view from the terrace. BUT not 5* because 1) too expensive : 86€ just for the room, sold for three persons although we were a couple (do they really believe that the standard pilgrims only walk 3 by 3?. Had the impression that the third bed was only there for justifying the price) and 2) the dinner was less than average and the youg waiter in a bad mood this evening.
I know 5 ☆ is a big score but they staff booked me in early even though they were busy. Spotles comfortable rooms and a wonderful terrace offering splendid views of the far horizon. All in all top marks....just cant wait for dinner because the locals are piling ing for lunch Bueno Camino Always a good sign
