La Posada de Castrojeriz is a nice hotel built around a lovely enclosed courtyard near the Camino de Santiago. Rooms were clean and nice, and dinner was excellent at the Meson down the street. It is a little tricky to find the hotel, as the sign is subtle and discreet.

Oscar is a wonderful host. The hotel is clean and well situated. I enjoyed lunch dinner and of course breakfast at the adjoining restaurant and everything was terrific. My one shout out would be to improve the wifi in the room!!

I spend my best night on the Camino in this quality place. Reminiscent of a home, so beautiful is the interior with quiet rooms, calming lounge, and incredible library. I'd like to stay a little longer.

I had a bad experience interacting with Oscar. It was my second day on the Camino (started in Burgos) when I came down with a bad cold. I had a fever when I reached Castrojeriz, so I decided not to stay in the albergue and not infect other pilgrims and get a private room while I recover. I stopped at La Posada. Nobody was at the front desk, just a note to call Oscar, which I did. I was refused service, he was laughing and mocking me, and I could hear a woman's voice also laughing. They clearly didn't need my business, even though it was during a shoulder season with not many travelers around. I went down the street to Hotel Jacobus, where I found a warm welcome with Ana and stayed there for two nights while I recovered.

Nice enough central location but no onsite catering or staff so you have to go to the sister location down the road for food. Breakfast doesn’t start until 7:30 and with locked gates you can’t even get a cup of coffee The hotel and our room were clean and well presented even if the bedroom is very dated. No shower curtain in the bathroom so you could have a shower without flooding the bathroom. The food offering at the sister restaurant was OK but no real vegetarian options so we ate what we could but otherwise just a poor level of service when we have all along said we were vegetarian. Wouldn’t stay here again for food and the lack of service at the hotel doesn’t make me want to stay at the hotel either
