4 / 5 Very good
5 / 5 Top
1 / 5 Hygiene was awful.
The first day we arrived very late and the sheets were stained and had some short, curly hair on them, and the bathroom had traces of feces. We didn't complain because, apart from the late arrival due to work, they were kind enough to save us some sandwiches.
The staff were very friendly, but it makes me angry to pay 5 euros per night for a pet when it makes less of a mess than we found the room... I'll say it again, I appreciate the complimentary dinner, but two sandwiches—one bacon and cheese and the other chicken breast and cheese—a soft drink, and a coffee for 16 euros seems a bit excessive. And a breakfast of a croissant, coffee, and water for 7 euros... I don't entirely agree with that.
The room price is acceptable, and the staff are very friendly. But the cafeteria is dirty and expensive. The bathroom curtains are disgusting; they should be thrown away.
4 / 5 We didn't stay at the hostel, but we did go for lunch. The €13 menu (includes starter, main course, dessert, coffee, a drink, and bread) is superb, and the food is homemade. The waitresses are very attentive and friendly.
3 / 5 The staff are very friendly, the hostel is clean, and they also accept dogs, which I thought was great. However, the mattress was very uncomfortable, like a hammock: we sank into the middle, and it was impossible to rest properly.
Another negative point is the noise. If you're a light sleeper like me, it's very difficult to sleep if your room faces the street. It was impossible to fall asleep until after 2:15 a.m., between the shouts of the hostel's bar guests, the bar across the street, cars and motorcycles revving, and to top it all off, all the noise from closing time: throwing out the trash, clearing tables, moving chairs... You could hear absolutely everything.
Although this isn't the hostel's direct fault, it does seriously affect your sleep.
Otherwise, the meals were good.
