Casa Lixa in Las Herrerías was a gem of a find on my Camino de Santiago journey. This rural hotel offers a wonderfully cozy and quiet atmosphere, perfect for resting. The on-site restaurant is fantastic, providing not only a pilgrim's menu but also a variety of excellent dishes. The breakfast is plentiful, setting you up perfectly for a day of walking. Rooms are new, well-maintained, and heated, adding comfort to the stay. Highly recommend for a peaceful retreat and a hearty meal during the pilgrimage.

This place is a poorly run disaster. First of all, I booked one type of room, but when I showed up, they put me into a more crowded one, without even telling me. Ok, mistakes get made, so I went to the reception to get it fixed and they just told me it’s the only bed available. Not cool, but alright, I can live with that. But then I discovered that one of the guests in the room they put me was so sick, they were coughing their lungs out non-stop for the entire duration of the stay. Now, we know from the 3 years of the pandemic that we can’t trust individuals to make rational decisions and isolate themselves when they are sick. But the establishment shouldn’t allow clearly sick and infectious person to sleep in the room with 10 other people. Now everyone in that room is guaranteed to be sick and each of them are going to spread that to the next 10 people they are going to stay with next night. And so on. The room didn’t have any ventilation. There were skylights that could be opened, but somehow they didn’t make a difference and the air in the room was very stuffy. I couldn’t take it and just put a bunch of blankets on the floor of the hallway and slept there. So I guess I was placed in a different type of room, but ended up sleeping on the hallway floor. No, thank you.

We stayed on 26 September 2024. Water out of taps was brown. When I asked staff if they would drink it they said ”No.” No drinkable water was provided by staff. Guests had to purchase bottled water. Staff were rude.

Room are spacious. Bed is ok. At least its not noisy. Each bed has its own plug and light. Theres only 2 restrooms with shower, one for each gender but it seemed to suffice. Didnt try the laundry so cant talk about that.

Excellent. Clean, accommodating, very good food. 15 euro price is worth it to stay for all pilgrims.
