Albergue Municipal de Logroño

Clean. Super warm and welcoming volunteers. There’s a cute patio and a cold fountain to soak your feet. We were going to stay at a different alburgue but that place was not very good so we left and were so glad we came here instead. Nice play ti stay the night!

The hostel itself is ok for a public hostel. Clean, showers were fine. The rooms were particularly crowded with little ventilation, and they cancel your reservation if you don’t arrive by 2pm (which is problematic given that the walk from Los Arcos that day is nearly 30km which means you have to leave at around 5am if you’re to make it) which may put some people off. The main problem we had is how the staff treated us. The hostel has many signs saying that check out is between 6am and 8am. We planned to leave around 7:45am given our long trek the day before. As we were packing at around 7:20am, two male staff told us that they wanted everyone out by 7.30am so that they could lock up and go to a cafe before they cleaned. Obviously we did not know this in advance, especially given all the signs said that checkout was 8am. As we were rushing to pack our belongings to be out as close to 7.30am as possible (no time to shower) they were extremely rude, argumentative and quite aggressive and intimidating. They made us feel as though we had done something wrong, when we hadn’t. They told us it “wasn’t a hotel” and refused to acknowledge all the signs which clearly stated the correct checkout time of 8am when we tried to explain what the confusion was. Advice to staff: If you want everyone to leave early so that you can go to a cafe, then either change the signs to say checkout it at 7:30 OR let guests know at check in that checkout is at 7:30 (and to ignore the signs). Also, do not treat people so poorly. We paid to stay at the hostel and did nothing wrong.

Heather in the room is barely enough (winter) but they have covers, washer machine and dryer a bit expensive (4€ each plus .5€ for soap) but beds are good (for an albergue) and staff is nice, kitchen is well equiped

Clean and tidy, staff were kind and helpful but if you want to sleep this is not the place for you. Pilgrims partied in the kitchen which echoed throughout all the corridors. We encountered the most ill mannered people here which is not the fault of the accomadation but someone could have shut them up.

Add some air extraction system in the bedroom. 10 euros est maximum. 8 euros would be better
