Good location, clean rooms but a bit dated. Breakfast was satisfactory with some hot items and fruit (so not full continental). Wifi worked well
Classic mercure hôtel (a bit office like). Very central with car parking. Excellent choice for one or two nights at Logrono.

The hotel we last stayed in was a fabulous 16th century wine making house converted to a small hotel run by Jose and Emilio who were wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. The food they prepared was the best we have had in a hotel since we started our journey along the Camino Then we arrived into the Mercury Carlton Rioja, the exact opposite of the night before big, modern, no staff, no bar and no service and a room that is tired and dated. We must have one of lesser rooms at the back of the hotel with a view not worth paying for but not over looking a road so was quite. The only plus side to this impersonal no service hotel is that we did manage a good nights sleep but I wouldn’t stay again.
I would actually give the hotel 2.5 ⭐. The good: bathroom was clean and modern and the room was spacious and bright and the location is great for checking out central Logroño. They also gave us 2 free water bottles in the mini fridge and breakfast had a good variety and was yummy. The bad: the room was LOUD. The doors were loud opening and closing and we could hear everyone slam their door even floors away, there was some sort of crazy humming/buzzing as loud as a vacuum coming from the wall behind our bed and we went out to look and nothing is there! Weird. Also, even though they advertise room service in their hotel amenities, when we asked the bar, she said "no, we have no room service". So confusing. Lastly and even more terrible, there was cigarette smoke smell coming from the vent in our bathroom! It reeked and we couldn't figure out how to stop it. We almost couldn't use the restroom at times and opened the window to air out the room. Overall, not quite worth the cost but we may consider staying again but definitely in a different room/area. Our room view was lacking but that would not be a deterrent for another stay.
