Great spot for a very quick overnighter along the Camino but lacking a few niceties. Would not recommend before or following big walking days. No elevator for heavy bags to upper levels. Rooms and bathrooms are small.
I had stayed twice before at Chiquitín while doing the Camino de Santiago with very good results. Today, we arrived after completing the Camino Primitivo and were told that our reservation had been cancelled the day before. When pressed to produce the cancellation notice the front desk person was not able to promptly produce it although “it was a recent email with less than 24 hours since issued” according to them. I contacted my booking agency and in fact there was a cancellation sent out on 04-30-25 by mistake. This situation was corrected and new reservations were re-booked in mid May 2025 and additional confirmation was sent in mid September 2025. Chiquitín claimed non receipt of the new booking. Anyway, let’s say that there was a disconnect. The challenge is how to solve the problem for the customer. The front desk person made herself scarce. We had to physically search for her in the backend to ring us a cab. Additionally, several customers arrive to eat at their restaurant and they had to leave even though a lady told me that they had reservations for the service. In short, book at Chiquitín at your own risk. Our booking agent, found another better appointed hotel down the road which also has an elevator. Too bad about Chiquitín, I did not believe the poor reviews and wanted to proof them wrong. Well I was wrong, this accommodation is no longer reliable.
Hotel to Avoid if you can to stay😔 plenty of better hotels in this small town with similar prices. I don’t normal have low reviews but unfortunately this hotel is way below normal standard on this level of price range that everyone in my travel group disliked it so much. Location-a bit far from the town center and the town is rather small. Not updated place with lots of stairs. Above all, small and super cold rooms with no heating at all in the April and my friend almost got a cold after taking a shower. There is NO hair dryer in any of the rooms!😅 never 👎 bad customer service with negative altitude (very rare in Spain 🇪🇸) bare minimum breakfast and served with a fave when you ask for more coffee or tea. 👎So a No No. No wonder not many customers. I hope the owner will improve things for their customers in the future.
Terrible place to stay while doing the el Camino. Lady on the front desk and in the bar clearly spoke about us in Spanish to other people while right in front of us, despite offering little to no customer service. Breakfast also didn’t open on time which delayed our start to the Camino. Same lady didn’t seem to appreciate that she had a job to do. Terrible terrible attitude.
Decent rooms. Mostly clean except for some mould in the showers. Do not expect good breakfast service
