1 / 5 Do not stay here. Very mouldy bathroom. Bedbugs. Broken shower door hanging off its hinges. A rip off at €58 for a private room in very poor condition. Owner offers it via WhatsApp only. Probably so that you can't leave a review on booking.com. I left straight away and got a nice clean room further down the road for €35. Don't waste your money.
5 / 5 This whole village where this albergue is located provides accommodations and nourishment to Pilgrims walking along the Camino de Santiago.
This village is an excellent place to stop after making a steep assent to the top of the pass. This time you have an opportunity to stay a while and enjoy your accomplishment and the beautiful views of the immense landscape.
I had a room in this facility that was just fine. A nice place to sleep and a good shower to refresh myself after the big climb. The lady proprietor is very kind and has a great sense of humor. Once you are checked in the service is self-help to let yourself in the door and you were on your own to depart the next morning.
There is a daily mass at the nice chapel. And there are several nearby establishments where you can purchase refreshments and meals. There's also an extensive gift shop and pilgrim supply store in the village.
1 / 5 Do not stay here! Do not even bring your packs in! We paid 55 and 70 euros for 2 private rooms, a double and triple. We’re on the Camino, so our standards are honestly quite low. Despite this, this place was by far the worst place we’ve been in all trip. We did not stay the night due to significant blood stains and bed bugs noted at the corners of the mattress (look for yourself). The room was freezing in the middle of the day. There were hairs and crumbs on top of the bed quilts. We left and went directly to the municipal (would recommend). While getting settled I had no service, once I connected my phone to wifi I had missed calls and texts from two different workers at Frade wanting to know why we left. I told them the concerns and requested a refund, to which they denied all claims and said things had been cleaned and they had checked for bedbugs that day. No refund was issued. I would be willing to bet they rented to others hikers that day and double booked the room that night.
1 / 5 I am Japanese, and I was shocked when the woman at the reception made a slanted-eye gesture while asking if my son was Chinese. It is deeply unfortunate and disappointing to encounter someone so uneducated on the Camino, a journey enjoyed by people of many nationalities.
And I have checked into this hotel, but my child immediately developed spots on his face from bedbugs. When I lifted the bed covers, I found many black dots, and due to the unsanitary conditions, I requested to leave right away. However, the staff insisted that there shouldn’t be a problem because an inspection had been conducted two weeks ago.
I highly recommend not to stay this poor quality Alberuge.
2 / 5 The room seemed fine until I woke up and noticed a red bump on my face. Later on, after leaving the albergue, I realized I had more bumps ( bites) that I believed to be bed bug bites on my wrist, arms and back. We paid 60 euros for a private room and bath so I didn’t think I had to worry about bed bugs. But don’t stay there if the owner doesn’t take the problem seriously! Plus the sink drain is super slow.
