I rarely leave reviews.. something needs to be either exceptional or terrible for me to leave a review. Unfortunately this was the latter. I had a really bad experience. When I arrived I was informed that there was no electricity by a woman (customer) who had been waiting to check in for over 3 hours... Didn't bode too well. There was nobody there except the cook to speak to. He did go and find someone to help me after a few minutes. I had booked through an external agency and they could not find my booking. There was very little communication with me or an explanation or apology whilst I sat and waited to see if I had a room. Eventually I was shown to a room which looked great.... Although the bed frame was very very dusty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned recently. The electricity did not return until the next morning powered I think by an emergency generator. So I had a very cold shower. I woke in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and on getting back to bed (with the light of my phone) I found several bed bugs. Nothing to do but get up and wait for the morning. So I had very little sleep.. I would not recommend staying here until a) they improve the accommodation in terms of power and upkeep/cleanliness and b) confirm that the bed bugs have been dealt with. It could be lovely if they made an effort. The woman who gave me breakfast was very nice.
Pilgrims please avoid staying here if you can. Bed bugs / chinches! Woke up to bites at 2am. Found multiple life stages of bed bugs on inspection. Possibly indicating that the bed bugs have been in the room for a while. Would love to know that the property is doing something about it. Until then, it's not worth it. Take the snoring of the municipal instead.
BEDBUGS in room 2 on September 2nd. the worst thing was the woman at the front DIDNT CARE when we told her about the bedbugs??? she said “so?” and then said “conversation over.” crazy. DO NOT STAY HERE. THEY DONT CARE IF THERE ARE BEDBUGS HERE. THEY WONT CLEAN IT UP!!!
Unfortunately we found bed bugs and lots of evidence that it seems to be a bigger problem. The host was understanding and gave us a refund.
Walter our waiter was really friendly and helpful. Talked us through the alternatives for two vegetarian and a meat eater and gave good review of the various wines. Thanks Walter you were great
