I loved my stay at the Albergue Aqua Portomarin. It all began before I even arrived in town. The night before, Fanny sent me detailed information and a video on how to self check-in upon arrival. So when I got, everything was super easy and I was able to let myself inside the building, grab the key to my room, and just climb the stairs to reach it. Later, we completed the check-in process with one of her colleagues. He was super friendly and answered all my questions. I wish it was always this easy on the Camino de Santiago. I booked one of the double rooms on the top floor. It was spacious and had a skylight. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of space for all of my stuff. There was also a ventilator. The shared bathrooms were clean. Wifi worked well throughout the building. A great place to stay for anyone walking the Camino de Santiago.

Thomas is a funny helpful young man. Made us forget about the difficult road and face directions. Chitchen is practical.Room was very good, bathrooms also good, we had shared bathrooms (one for two rooms) one stair below. Close by was a good restaurant. The town is interesting, the Camino is wonderful in this stage.

This is a review of the private rooms with shared bathrooms in the Pensión Aqua location. Pros: Fani is a nice, welcoming host. Cons: The bed was saggy, so you can't sleep straight. It was like sleeping in a bowl. The walls and doors are poorly made, and you can hear everything in the hallway and the other rooms. You can especially hear people peeing in the bathroom. Even with earplugs I could hear the noise. You get one tiny plastic baggie of shower gel which is barely enough for one part of your body. Needless to say, I got very little sleep. I really wanted to like this place, but it wasn't worth the 30 euros for a "private" room. It would have been better to just stay in the albergue. This has been indicative of the larger issue in that the Camino is becoming a tourist industry, and everybody is trying to cash in on their piece of the pie. Cut costs and charge what you can, because you'll never see these peregrinos again anyway. They just keep coming in waves.

Terrible and unprofessional service and it ruined my Camino trip. I had to wait for 40 min to start check in as there was only one staff or owner. The staff first served the people who came after me. I felt that I was discriminated as I am an Asian and the people came after me were Spanish. I asked why and he excused that my room is in another building. Even if so, he had to explain it before I asked. He drove us to another building by his car. I closed his car door as I do with my car, and he yelled at me that I closed the door too hard. What a nice customer service.

Clean place, nice staff in reception, comfortable bed , amazing bathroom, and if you will have the second floor room you will have one of the best views you ever had , the next day you'll be another person.
