The place is very clean, they have a coffee shop with refreshments available throughout the day, the staff is very friendly and you have different choices for lodging. The location is perfect for el Camino pilgrims, just a few steps after you enter the town so when you come tired you can immediately rest and get refreshed.

Standard room with several bunks packed together. Warm but air conditioner in room. When asked to turn on, request ignored. Bathrooms and showers were great. Didnt appreciate the incessant phone calls and texts about arrival. Even after phoned one time to say I would be delayed. Perfect location.

Place is very clean. Staff is not too friendly. I speak the language and always say please and thank you. It seemed like because I wasn’t from Spain, any question be it for change for the laundry room, or to ask what was offered for breakfast was meant with an inconvenience, especially the older man working breakfast. I did notice humor and polite behavior with local patrons. Unfortunate. Very loud at night with a lady yelling at 9:30-11 pm in the upstairs reception area.

We decided to stay in Casona da Ponte because we read that they have AC. We where walking the Camino Frances during a heatwave and where looking forward to a good night sleep. But sometime during the night the AC was turned off in our Albergue room and the heat was unberable. Our sleep was nonexistant and the following day of walking was ruined.

Stayed for my first night on the Camino (Sarria to Santiago). Portomarin is a nice spot and there were lots of people out eating/drinking so it’s in a good location. The girl in reception was helpful and pointed out all necessary rooms (showers, toilets, washing, kitchen etc). She was happy to help when I had further questions (such as where to dry my clothes!) Eight to my room (4 bunk beds) but quite spacious compared to other albergues I have stayed in. Charging point next to my bed, (no individual lights) lockers with key (€1 required) and bed sheet and pillow case provided. The kitchen was a good, clean space. I didn’t use the bar as it seemed the person on reception was also manning the bar and they were elsewhere when I considered getting a drink. No pictures taken but the space was clean and tidy. Would recommend and stay again.
