Do not stay here. This place has a hygiene problem. Woke up in the middle of the night to bed bugs. Staff only offered me a refund less than half of my paid price, and a room next to my original room (useless for bed bugs). They are ignoring the customer complaint team from Booking.com, to the extent where Booking.com is giving me a partial refund from their pocket out of their own good will. Do not let Pousada Portomarin convince you that this issue was ‘resolved’ on site. Way off the Camino and on the edge of Portomarin, overpriced, rooms are old, have slept in 10 euro albergues that are significantly more comfortable and cleaner. Don’t risk it!
We really enjoyed our one night stay here on the Camino. Outstanding service. I really have to rate this as the best service we’ve experienced in Spain so far- charming) and humorous) wait staff- Rony and Fabi had us in stitches and could not have been more helpful!! Food was excellent- highlight was the Portomarin Cake which is Almond cake ( gf) with local port and a touch of orange zest. Incredibly good! Rooms a generous size and clean but we did find the beds a bit hard. Overall, a very pleasant experience!
The hotel is a bit older, but I would say it’s in good condition. The room was clean, as was the pool. The restaurant staff were also very nice, and the food was good. We were a bit unlucky with our room, number 122. It was right next to the elevator on the first floor and just above the common terrace. As a result, it wasn’t very quiet, as you could hear the suitcases from the elevator and people chatting outside. Next time, I would make sure to request a different room, but apart from that, everything was good.
Top class hotel, great food. Great staff. No air con in the room was the only drawback. Definitely recommend this hotel in cooler weather.
