It's a small hostel, if i remember right it has 8 beds. I've been there 3 days ago. The owner was nice and welcoming. Despite the fact I was late she maged to arrange something for me to had dinner with. That paella was great! Outside the house there's sping water that create a pool of cool water.
After placing a reservation the day before, there appears to be a breakdown in the albergue online reservation system. The hospitelera was very rude about the situation and informed us not enough beds were available after waiting two hours for the albergue to open. We walked onward to the next albergue. It's a pity because San Bol used to a nice place attended by nice people. Now the fountaini s overgrown with algae and looks unsanitary to put feet in, the online reservation is pointless, and the staff is rude. Just go to Hontonas.
We are traveling with dogs and every municipal albergue we’ve encountered has allowed us to camp in their garden. My Spanish is not very good but it seemed like she immediately threatened to call the cops as soon as we asked. The encounter did not seem pleasant, maybe she was having a bad day…
I missed this place on my 2019 Camino, and I stayed in Hontanas. I'm back for 2022 Camino and I've decided to stayed here. And it was one of the best memories I've on Camino Frances. Only 5 of us and we all enjoyed the pool, wine, paella and beautiful sunset.
An amazing place to stay if you prefer to feel the nature. We liked it very much. I would have given 5 stars, for sure, but... for dinner, instead of having chicken paella, we asked for a vegetarian one. The host seated us at a separate table. Once the other 12 pilgrims called us to sit together, we joined them, but the host was categorically against it, because he wanted to take a picture without us first, then with us and our food. It was maybe for the beauty of the picture or because of our vegetarian preference. We will never know why. However, we had a perfect connection with others after that.
