A truely unexpected gem. This hostel was the most thoughtfully set up, warm and welcoming stay I have experienced on the Camino so far. The building itself was gorgeous and cozy. The staff were friendly and informative + you could tell them deeply cared about the history of the establishment and the quality of service. The food was delicious and very efficiently served. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would - it was a magical place to stay was worth every cent of the accommodation and dinner service.
Amazing place! Really beautiful place, and very clean. The beds are very comfortable. The food is delicious and homemade, and you can eat a pilgrim menu with the other pilgrim, which is lovely. The staff is SUPER sweet and welcoming, and you can tell that they put a lot of love into making it a nice and comfortable place to stay. Would definitely recommend this place, I am 100% sure that it is the best albergue in the Area. Thank you❤️
The best albergue on the Camino so far, after walking to León. The beds are sturdy and very comfortable, with proper sheets. The dorm is well laid out and quiet at night. The showers and toilets are very nice and new. Paella for the communal meal was delicious and plenty of wine was flowing. Highly recommend.
This was the first albergue with wooden beds, which felt very authentic and cozy. Despite there being over 20 people in the room, I slept very well. The volunteer who showed me around the albergue was super friendly. The dinner was great too.
This albergue was an oasis after a long day. Dinner was marvelous and the sleeping area was very cool and very comfortable. It is evident that a lot of care was put into making this albergue THE place to stay in San Juan de Ortega.
