The albergue was the worst. There was no heating, the toilets didn’t even have soap, just an old soap bottle filled with water. There was no hair dryer and no hot water either. Check-out was at 9:30 a.m., but an hour earlier the owner was already trying to kick us out, reminding us every ten minutes that we had to leave by 9:30. We couldn’t even have breakfast or follow our plans. I had bed number 13, and all the light from the corridor was shining directly on my face at night, so I couldn’t sleep. At the same time, since the room was large, the light near the lockers had been switched off by the owner so that we couldn’t turn it on in the morning, and we had to look for our things in the dark. Nobody could found the switch for the light. When we mentioned it to her, she sarcastically replied, “Peregrinos always carry flashlights with them.” Unwelcoming place, by far the worst experience on the entire Camino.

This was our second time staying at this albergue. Our first visit was in 2022, when many pilgrims were still hesitant to walk, and Ana welcomed us with open arms. A few days ago, we returned, and once again found everything we needed. It’s simple and basic, which is all we ask for. The albergue is just 1 km from the Cathedral (many others are farther away), and both Gadis and Dia supermarkets are less than 100 meters. For us, it’s the perfect balance of location and simplicity. We’ll be happy to come back here again.

Small Albergue, walk 1000m back from the square on arrival. Cool temperatures inside, larger common sitting area is nice to ‘hang around’, clean kitchen but only microwave. Guest lady Anna greets you every moment of the day with a welcoming smile, which made me feel at ease. Good price/quality compared to a place 100m further up that I had a look at.

Excellent hostel, best price on the street. Friendly. kind, helpful owner Anna. Clean, well run albergue. 300 metre from airport bus stop and 1 kilometre from Santiago cathedral. I enjoyed my stay here. Tom Higgins, Dublin, Ireland.

This was a great place to stay in Santiago. Very clean and nice. The owner was very helpful and was happy to help us get oriented and answer questions in English.
