Other than the malfunctioning, abused sliding door lock of the bathroom, my ground floor 6-bed room was great. Free towels, sheets changes daily, Black out curtains and card key lockers and doors. And soda and snack bending machines, kitchen, washer dryer machines are all next to my room. Lots of table and seats for scattered lounging for the owl guests. There were some inconsiderate middle aged man and woman who would repeatedly roll and smoke weeds outside the window at night and another man running unwashed clothes in the dryer, spreading unpleasant BO and germs in the drum And to the air in the common space. This happened during the unsupervised late night hours. I think they can raise the daily fees from us to hire the night staff every night for the security or the incidents or disputing unruly guests. And, this would avoid people opening doors for the unregistered strangers in the building. The r-daynstay was all great. Best location near the pilgrim office and chapel, restaurants, and the shops that sell authentic souvenirs at a lower price, and easy access to more historic attractions, and easy route to the mirador park and the new town area, without walking through the old web of the Santiago Cathedral south. The taxi was accessible onto our street for early morning departure to the railway station, too. I will come to stay in this place again in the next trip. This is the 2nd best featured hostel during this Camino Frances trip, and the top convenient place.
The best beds are in the rooms for 4. Theyre nice! The kitchen is good too and the garden is lovely. The location makes it one of the best things. 1 problem: I negotiated a price on whatsapp with them that was different when we arrived and the owner declined responsibility. But other times one girl (the one that speaks good English) was very helpful with information about car rental and managed to get us a better room. So she put things in balance:) there is a place to leave bags before check-in and after check-out:) We could also have a shower before checking in ! Thank You, Mr. owner! WiFi works well only downstars.
The only thing going for the hostel is the location. Otherwise it is somewhat low quality - the type of place that on the rest of the Camino you would expect to pay 10-15 euros. The rooms have poor ventilation and the beds are poor quality. The upper bed in room 202 has a space between the wall so items easily fall to the bed below. Also the beds in the same room are quite different as some have light shade and others don’t. I stayed at another hostel in Santiago the night before in the same price range and the experience was so much better. The employees at that hostel seemed to care about the experience of the guests and the hostel was clean at all hours, whereas KM0 bathrooms were disgusting by 9 pm at night and even worse in the morning.
One rule is to not take a shower at night to respect everyone sleeping. One person did take a shower at 1.45 am. As walking the next day it has been an issue having a shortest rest. I hoped the management would do something about it....but they didn't
Nice Hostel, small rooms, everything okay but one day i saw a dead bedbug on the floor, told the staff, they did not check, next day i had a few bites on my right arm. Not nice
