This hotel is an cool air conditioned haven as soon as the front door is opened. Soft music in the foyer and uniformed helpful staff make for a great initial impression. Room is of comfortable size with a nice bathroom. All was very clean and well prepared on arrival. Shuttered windows and room air con which works well. Foyer has a cafe area with the staff serving direct to table. Quality is good and the area very pleasant. Close to central Santiago for an easy walk to various restaurants and attractions. Park to rear of the hotel for tree lined shaded walks in the afternoon sun. Very happy with my stay and it exceeded my expectations.
We spent 3 nights at the Herradura Hotel. You can drop your luggage off and then park your car behind the street, as directed by the receptionist, for €10 per night. The location is excellent, just a 10-minute walk from the center and right next to a nice park. The hotel looks nice and classy, and the staff is friendly and helpful, providing information about local festivities. However, there are two issues to consider. First, the rooms are tiny—if you have more than two medium-sized suitcases, there's barely any space to walk. The bathroom is also small, and the shower is difficult to use if you're a bit oversized or have a belly. There's no fridge in the room. Second, the breakfast is basic and lacks variety, with the same options every day: bread, one type of cheese and ham, butter, jam, and Santiago cake. For a stay of 1 or 2 nights, it's manageable, but for longer stays, it becomes less enjoyable. Note that the 3 stars I gave are for the room size. But for the location id give 5 stars.
Very impressed by the breakfast service. They provided gluten free tostada and explained all else. Good cafe con Leche. Would move this to a 5 if the air-conditioning was better (set temp to 15 and fan to 3 but didn't seem to achieve much temp change) or if a good fan was available in the room. We are going to stay here again ( have already booked).
This hotel is a definition of a hidden gem. Think a classic fine small hotel with a cosy lounge bar where background music is some piano, this is it. The breakfast is also served there. Price is very reasonable for the what you're getting. Everything is not new and high-tech, but the hotel has aged well like a fine wine. Hotel was the highlight of our two week trip to Europe. I highly recommend.
This hotel is excellent! It is a great experience for the price. Rooms are spotless and quiet at night. Beds and bedding are very comfortable. It has a very charming character, far removed from the soulless chain hotels. For those not doing the Camino, it’s a 20 minute walk from the train and bus station. It’s very close to the historic center of Santiago and literally steps away from a gorgeous park with views of the city and cathedral. I will be returning on my next trip to Santiago and recommending it to friends.
