It's a very simple and easy going hotel option in Santiago. The room was pretty small and rather dark, with the only window facing the inner shaft, but for the price you can't potentially get better than that. They allowed me check in prior to the official check-in time, and the staff was next level friendly helping me out with advice. Also the location is superb-close to the historical center and a brisk walk to the train station. Unfortunately, there was no kettle in the room and in the vending machine downstairs no hot water available, but it's a 2* hotel, so I guess it's fine. The code to the front door changes at some point in the evening, so my card didn't work anymore, but there was someone at the reception waiting with a new card: good thing I didn't come back at 3 am :)
Lovely staff - she helped me with my car booking. Called the car company many times back and forth trying to help. The service and kindness from the staff was very much appreciated and noticed. Rooms were spacious, quiet, and the beds were soft and comfortable. We would stay again. Value for money!
After having walked the Camino Frances, I was looking forward to a hotel and a bath. I booked a single room after extensive searching on booking.com all the pictures show lovely, spacious rooms all with a full size bath. The bath in my room 103 was literally a foot high shower tray. I was so disappointed. All other rooms were taken so no chance of moving. Receptionist was fantastic. Location is central. Decor is dated. Single room? I had better facilities in many of the Alburgues that I'd stayed in for a fraction of the price. Solo travellers beware. You get what you pay for.
This is a "2 star" hotel, so you get what you pay for. But in expecting a fairly average 2 star, I was really surprised by the amenities. Yes the hotel is a bit older and my room was small, but I expected all of that for a 2 star hotel. What I didn't expect, and what I received, was a very clean room, clean bathroom, hand soap as well as shower gel, fantastic location and a great price. I was also very impressed with the friendly front desk service and pleasantly surprised that they understood English. As I only needed a room in town on my way to the airport tomorrow I would definitely come back here - especially with the airport bus stopping right outside the front door.
Simple and clean. But the location is what you pay for. Walking distance from train station and to old down. And right across the street from the airport bus stop making an early morning departure so easy.
