Hotel Pazo De Altamira

We chose this hotel because of its location, and we were not disappointed. It was a late arrival as the airline changed our booking. The hotel arranged for a taxi on our behalf and the driver was waiting at arrivals when we arrived. The following morning we had a basic Spanish continental breakfast, and then went to reception to ask for a map of the city. Maria the receptionist must have spent at least 15 minutes pointing out where to go, which order was best, where we could eat and the anti-cholesterol walk in the park after. The hotel is just far enough away from the hustle & bustle, but everywhere you need to visit is within easy walking distance & also the market is just round the corner. The rooms are spacious and fitted with modern décor. Coffee, tea, kettle & safe provided There are 4 floors which is also serviced with a lift as well as stairs and the hotel has its own restaurant. We were really made to feel welcomed and enjoyed our 3 night stay immensely.

Excellent location and facilities for enjoying some downtime at the end of the Camino. We appreciated the friendly staff and the quality and cleanliness of the rooms and hotel were excellent. Great access to the markets and plenty of local places to eat and drink made this a great place to stay for a few days.

This hotel was wonderful in terms of location and comfort. It is literally 4 min. walk to the cathedral. The bed is comfy and the A/C is strong. We loved the room and location. Don't get breakfast. It is overpriced for what it is and the poor staff person could not keep up with reception, breakfast, and phone duties. Items were not refilled. Overall not a good value for breakfast. Other than that, highly recommended.

If you come in by bus as we did, you can walk to the hotel. But be prepared to walk on an incline for about 20 minutes. The place is easy to find, use Google Map, located in the historic district. So much to say about the general location and historical value. The staff is incredibly wonderful, they will take the extra step to make your stay a great experience. They are well versed in recommending places to eat and visit. Most places are within walking distance, however the bus comes every 5 minutes and cheap. We had a great view of the street and Igleasia San Agustin, great for people watching. They also have a restaurant behind the check in counter and endless cafés outside. The best part is the local market just around the hotel, also accessible to transportation. In case you forgot your adaptor for your international electronics, ask from the desk, they will provide free of charge. Take advantage of their reservation to restaurants and transfer services, they are free. It makes it convenient to avoid lines in restaurants. If this is your first time in Santiago de Compostela, this would be a great place for you to start. The hotel area is quiet and you can enjoy that rest in between seeing the city. The location is safe for family travel, convenient if you have little ones. They have a lift in case you are in top floors. A plus is their mini fridge. This hotel is definitely noteworthy to recommend. Also it is registered with the local tourist bureau. Their prices are subjective to your budget, but for what they offer, and more...worth it! Perfect loction right in the old town center but still very quiete. 3mins walk from bus stops including the airport bus (only 1euro ticket!) . Super confortable bed and pillows and bathroom with nice soap and soft towels. My room has a beautiful veranda with coffee table and rocking chair.Good breakfast with proper coffee italian style!! Missing some croissant but very good bread and cake and all other usual stuff.
