Hostal La Catedral

As a facility/ maintenance engineer, this hotel is poorly maintained. I would be happy if the price would be half the price I paid . But for the price its not worth it . WiFi signal is poor. Tv is highly outdated .

Last minute booking. Happy to reserve one of their balcony rooms. Bright, clean, delightful. Lovely lady at check-in found me listed in the hotel register, processed my ID, provided me with keys and door codes and suggested I place my luggage in the lift to lighten my load - and when I arrived to the 2nd floor hit the call button to retrieve my bag. So clever! I am delighted to stay here in Santo Domingo de la Calzada - while my knees and feet repair. Excellent location on a narrow street of homes and shops. Plenty of restaurants nearby. I also recommend nearby Pastry Shop (El Buen Gusto) if you want to try a “Bilbao Butter Bun” Bollos de Mantequilla and a coffee - or chocolates.

I’m not sure I understand the previous ratings but our stay here was good. As pilgrims, it was nice to have our own clean and neat room and WC. It was clean, quiet, close to many restaurants and bars as well as the Catedral. As mentioned, our host wasn’t overly talkative but be was nice and even washed and dryer and folded our clothes. I’d stay here again. Check out the sweet/bakery around the corner. Delicious!

I had a pleasant stay at Hostal La Catedral in Santo Domingo de la Calzada during my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. The room was spacious and comfortable, although there was no breakfast service or reception. However, communication via message center was quick and efficient. The location is outstanding, right next to the cathedral and excellent restaurants. Santo Domingo de la Calzada is a charming city, and the hostel's location made it incredibly convenient to explore and enjoy.

Horrible rooms, bad mattresses, cigarette burns on blankets, dirty and a totally disrespectful nasty owner who cursed at us because the WiFi didn’t work. Don’t ever stay here you will regret it.
