4 / 5 It is a four stairs hotel inside of an old way of Santiago pilgrims hospital of the 12th century to give the medical assistant required to all pilgrims. It was adapted to a Parador 4 stars hotel. Big and exceptional spaces inside of the building adding old style furnitures give a cozy and comfortable feeling. In front of Parador is the Cathedral with Santo Domingo Saint buried in it. The old historical city centre is part of this area around the building.
4 / 5 This 4 star Parador does not earn its stars like many of the other parador we have stayed at. It was packed with tourists due to its proximity to the Santiago trail and lacking in enough staff to handle it all. Superior Rooms are large but lacking in amenities such as a coffee and tea making station and bottled water as we had in the other " 4 star" paradors. It was impossible to get a restaurant reservation for either of the 2 notes we stayed at the hotel, so BUYER BEWARE, book your hotel restaurant reservation in advance if possible or pay for half or full board when you book your room. Again, this was the 1st time we had such problems in a Parador ( and we have stayed in more than 10 different Paradors ). Staff were nice and tried to be helpful, but they were overwhelmed. What's going on? Is Spain cutting back and hiring more staff ? It takes a toll on staff and customers.
4 / 5 There’s something quietly luxurious about staying in a Parador—especially one wrapped in the layers of Camino history like this one. My first time staying in one, and it didn’t disappoint. The room was clean, the bed generous, and every detail—down to the thick towels and soft lighting—felt like it was made to remind a pilgrim that comfort still has a place on the road.
The staff? Genuinely kind. Not that corporate politeness, but actual warmth—like they’ve seen a hundred tired walkers come through their doors and still think you matter. The breakfast buffet had a solid spread (the kind you linger over), and even though I didn’t try the restaurant, it looked like the kind of place where you’d treat yourself after a long trek or heartbreak.
The bar team was golden—they didn’t blink when I asked for ice for my knee, just filled a bag without a fuss. The lounge is plush and perfect, with a big TV where the world cup or some local derby feels like it matters again. Pro tip: there are two Paradors in town—don’t mix them up. And ask for a room facing the interior courtyard unless you enjoy hearing service doors bang at dawn.
Four stars only because the Camino spirit here feels filtered through linen napkins and polished stone. It’s not raw—but sometimes a little comfort is exactly the medicine you need.
5 / 5 Perfect. Lovely building with history evident everywhere. Very efficient, courteous service. Nice rooms. We had very comfortable twin beds. Good bathroom with shower, bath and heated floor. Excellent buffet breakfast as part of our Camino booking. A good bar for late night vino and coffee. We did not try the restaurant which opens at 8.30pm. A superb hotel. Thank you.
5 / 5 Truly beautiful grand hotel, super friendly team. Restaurant food was very good and service attentive. Situated in a wonderful area, with historic buildings and quaint little streets and shops within a 5 minute walk...
