Be careful with this hostel! We booked it for the first night of our Camino, and it was by far the worst stay we had on the entire trip. It turned out we weren’t staying at the hostel itself, but in an apartment block they own on the other side of the city. The apartment was awful—there was a terrible smell of mold coming from the bathroom that spread throughout the entire place. The whole apartment was in terrible condition and not very clean. The worst part was the night: it was so noisy inside the apartment that we could barely sleep. The people in the room above us had loud music on and were singing. Since there is no reception, nobody intervenes, it felt like people thought they could do whatever they want. In the morning, we had to walk 20 minutes to the actual hostel for breakfast. We had to leave at 7:30 a.m. to carry our heavy suitcase to the hostel reception on the other side of the city by ourselves, as it couldn’t be picked up by the suitcase transport from the apartment. Please stay away from this place. For us, it was the worst start to this important trip.
Spent a couple of hours here at the cafe enjoying a drink and tapas and watching the pilgrims come into town whilst waiting to check into our accommodation, nice atmosphere and great place to watch the world go by on a sunny day
Good breakfast. Accommodation was OK in general. They did not give us enough towels. There was only one tiny pouch of shampoo for three people. There was no hand wash / soap. Bed sheets were a bit old. I would rank cleanness 6/10. The internet worked perfectly
A group of friends and I arrived in Sarria, Spain on the evening of September 3, 2023. We were starting our Camino de Santiago pilgrimage the following day, and we were looking for a good place to have dinner before the hike. We found DP Cristal Restaurant, which was well rated on Google Maps. The restaurant was located in a central location, just a few minutes walk from our rented apartments for the night. We were greeted by a friendly waiter named Omar, who helped us to choose our food. We ordered a variety of dishes, including fried breaded squid, baked scallops, fries in aioli sauce, tomato and tuna salad, and marinated pork loin. Our food was all delicious and beautifully presented. The portions were generous, and we were all very satisfied. We washed our meal down with some Estrella Galicia beer, which was the perfect accompaniment. The service at DP Cristal was excellent. Omar was attentive and helpful, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also very pleasant. It was a cozy and relaxed setting, perfect for a pre-pilgrimage dinner. We had a wonderful dining experience at DP Cristal Restaurant. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to other pilgrims or vacation enthusiasts. Buen DP Cristal and Buen Camino!
Staff is rude. Wanted to stay an extra night. The manager said 40. Then said 45. The room was really beat up. Mattress hard, bathroom not clean, The breakfast is great and nice selection and the location great. The breakfast staff also rude. I had a small cake on my plate. I was full. I didn't want to throw away. As I was walking she had me return it to the buffet...! They also had us pay for Camino passports so we could get stamps along the way. Typically it's free or a donation. It was clear they were profiting from this.
