We passed Sarria on the 24th of December and wanted comfort on Christmas night. We were more than satisfied. We had the Christmas dinner and when we finished they informed us that, since we were pilgrims, it was on management. Could not have had a more positive experience at this hotel, highly recommended.
My second time to stay in this hotel. I was kindly allowed in early, reception/front desk people were accommodating, polite and friendly. My room was clean and sheets were clean. The bath/toilet seemed newly renovated with classy minimalist decor. Easily not older than 2 years. However, this was all marred by a totally rude bar girl. I sat at bar at around 6pm wanting a glass of wine before dinner. She passed 4 times without even looking at me. She clearly was having a very bad day but that’s no reason to be rude. After 10 minutes I just decided to find some bar outside to get a glass of wine. Pity, because the staff at the front desk were lovely as well as the breakfast staff the next day. Just goes to show how one staff can ruin a hotel’s reputation
Antonio was excellent; I believe he is the manager. I arrived worn out and jet lagged, looking forward to some rest and indulgence prior to beginning El Camino. I arrived and found the bedsheets in my room on the first floor with sheets that were stained. Not horribly but for the price I paid, I was not happy. I approached the front desk and Antonio immediately came out and went upstairs to change them himself. I left for lunch and when I returned he insisted that this was not the impression he wanted to make and changed my room. I offered to give him a tip because of how kind and apologetic be was, and he refused. It made me want to return despite the initial incident. The room where I ended up staying was clean, no stains, and I slept very well. Breakfast the next day was varied and delicious.
Absolutely lovely accomodation right on the Camino. Beds were a little bit hard for our liking, but rooms a good size, very clean and quiet. Restaurant was excellent/ We had the Pilgrims Meal and it was a feast!! Prawns, a divine piece of glazed salmon and insalta and crème caramel for dessert , accompanied with excellent red wine ( vino Tinto) . Charming waiter who treated us like royalty!!
Large hotel with a big crowd lining up at 6:50 waiting for breakfast to open at 0700. They know all these pilgrims want to start walking early and cause this chaos in the lobby because they won't open breakfast earlier. I would recommend beginning the journey in a smaller town away from the crowds.
