Pensión El Puente Peregrino

Elly and Ron were outstanding hosts. The homemade food was excellent and much needed as I was hungry for vegetarian protein! The rooms were clean and welcoming. El Puente was a perfectly charming, comfortable and quiet place to rest on my pilgrimage. You can tell a lot of love and time has been put into this lovely place and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The review is about our tentative to have dinner at the “Gastropub” Actually they did not give us an opportunity to try the restaurant. After waiting for ten minutes without anyone paying any attention to us, an attendant finally came up and asked what I wanted. I asked if they accepted reservations as the village was full of pilgrims. Her reply was curt: “I don’t accept reservations from non-guests of my hostel. You can come round later and see if a table is free or not” I looked at the “Fair Trade” sign on the board in the room and thought: "Strange, how fair is this kind of trade in this place? Anyway, we left and found another restaurant where a Spanish host greeted us warmly and served us excellently. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have noticed this kind of treatment on the Camino. All too often it seems that some places no longer consider pilgrims as guests — they see us as just another number. I prefer to spend my hard-earned money where I feel welcome.

We ate here, one of the few places in Trabadelo. It was an amazing surprise: fully vegetarian and amazing dishes - I’m not even vegetarian but I appreciated soo much. Super tasty, fairly priced and home made. Seriously the best food I had in Spain.

My husband and I made a decision to stay at Pension El Puente Peregrino based on the websites reviews. And we were so glad we did. Elly is a very nice lady, and speaks excellent English. Her place is super cute and the food (curry dish, burrito, and salad supreme) was honestly the best we've had on the Camino. So, so delicious. I really wanted to have the brownie and ice cream at the end of my meal but I just couldn't eat another bite. The portions are that generous. The rooms are adorable, beds comfortable. We highly recommend this place to stay and eat. Thank you Elly

I can see why this has nearly five stars! From the moment we checked in we felt very welcomed. The owner is from the Netherlands and speaks fluent English which may check in much easier. The room was on the third floor. Although a narrow staircase to get up to it it was worth it. The room was beautiful, comfortable beds and a large shower. Many small details made this stay exceptional. The bar / restaurant on the first floor run by the owner is amazing. Vegetarian food that was very comforting and nourishing! Fantastic prices, good sangria! Breakfast in the morning was so nice. We actually got a plate of multigrain toast, with choice of toppings - butter, peanut butter, and Maple syrup. Fresh pressed apple juice, Cafe Con leche, and yogurt with granola. What a great start to our day!
