With a new host, this municipal alberga gets a home atmosphere for pilgrams at the Camino Santiago. The place is clean, quiet, located on the mountainside with stunning views frof the terrace, neer by the center of the village, close to all pilgrams needs.
This is the worst albergue municipal of the camino frances, it is really uncomfortable, water not hot, there is no blankets and the manager didn't offer me one, I had to ask people in the town to get one.
+ The owner takes excellent care of cleanliness and the guests. When I arrived, he gave tips on what to see in the village, recommended a swimming area and explained about the hostels the next day. In the evening he refilled toilet paper as a precaution. In addition, he divided the Piligrims into different rooms, thank you very much for that. - : some guests came into the room at 10:30 p.m., talked loudly and turned on the room light. When asked to turn it off, as many hikers were already asleep in bed, the answer was "we need it now". That's exactly how they "needed it" around 5:00 a.m. and talked loudly again in the morning and woke up some hikers. The highlight was when they left the room, they left the lights on. The criticism is not directed at the hostel, but at other Piligrims. We should be considerate of each other, otherwise the idea of the Way of St. James will die out. Tip: Before Corona, many hostels hung posters with rules of conduct. Such as "Pack backpacks in the sleeping room before 9 p.m. or in the kitchen/reception afterwards," "Don't turn on the big lights between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.," "Don't talk in the sleeping area at night, etc. I understand that many Spaniards sleep during the day and that's why At night you are well served with 6 hours, but there are still other Piligrims on the way. I recommend putting up these posters again because unfortunately it was not an isolated case after Corona and many people simply don't know how to behave in hostels from home.
After a stage from Villafranca to Vega de Valcarcel I decided to rest at the Vega de Valcarcel pilgrim hostel, before facing one of the hardest stages (Vaga - O Cebreiro). Great success. Lolo the Hospitaller, took great care of us and the hostel was very clean and with good beds. His attention at the shelter was excellent and his advice for facing the next stage was very good. Totally recommended.
I don't give 10 stars because they don't give me the option 🤣. Unbeatable treatment from Lolo, the hospitalero. Very clean rooms, comfortable mattresses, and you can see the love put into this establishment. Very well located, in the center of town.
