Great location, pretty tiny rooms! The place is well placed since one is a good stopping point before O Cebreiro on the Camino, and it is close to the fantastic local restaurant: https://maps.app.goo.gl/QH5hgsB2nfCVpH3W6 Very clean and neat pension, but the rooms are very small, or at least ours was - maybe 8.5 sqm at most, with only a bed, a low luggage rack, and a small washbasin! Also the hot water in one of the two (common) showers appears to be on the same pipe as the first, but further down, so one person's hot water is another's cold rinse! There was a common area where one could sit at a bench for writing/typing, or read, but this place, whilst clean, neat, and tidy, really targets the arrive-wash-sleep-go crowd. Recommended if that is you, and also if it is your only opportunity to visit the village's excellent restaurant!
One of my favourite stays on the Camino. The host Maria was so lovely and the Pension was sparkling clean. The Pension is located next to a river, where you can have lunch and a swim in the cold mountain water. Refreshing and good for the aches and pains. Thank you, Maria you were wonderful and thank you for breakfast it was a perfect start to our morning.
Wonderful place, wonderful, friendly, and welcoming host. Bathrooms were spotless, self serve breakfast was affordable yet good.
I stayed here for a few nights while walking the Camino Francés. I had a bad foot and needed a place to rest and recover so I could complete my journey to Santiago. After seeing so many positive reviews, I decided to give this place a try—and I’m so glad I did. For the first few nights, I stayed in the albergue, as no private rooms were available. Later, I moved to a beautiful private room on the top floor with an incredible view. Throughout my stay, the hospitalieras went above and beyond with their care, kindness, and support to help me heal. Their warmth made such a difference during a difficult moment, and I’m incredibly grateful. This albergue—and the amazing women who run it—were a true gem on my Camino. Vega de Valcarce itself also holds a special place in my heart. Thank you for everything.
May 24, 2023. Wonderful location with great views of the river and town. It was a magical experience. The room was super comfortable and clean. But, most importantly, Maria went out of her way to make us feel at comfortable and at home. She was amazing…! She has a beautiful and caring personality. Thank you Maria. Will be back soon..
