Stayed at Hotel Meson do Loyo while walking the Camino from Sarria to Santiago. The accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable. We were transported the short journey by car to and from the restaurant for dinner and the food was excellent. The customer service was superb.
The room was fine, but when we arrived at the check-in time shown on Booking, the staff kept saying the room was still being cleaned. We waited for a long time and politely asked again, but they gave the same answer without really checking. After waiting another 30 minutes, we asked a different staff member, who actually went to check and found the room had already been cleaned. It feels like guests are not a priority here.
Very prompt pick and drop off from town Rooms clean and comfortable We made a mistake when ordered our dinner which was pre paid , we of course paid the difference but the owner was very surly about it. His staff are great and very helpful. Breakfast was poor the worst we had all week on our Camino , again the owner appeared and was grumpy . Wouldn’t recommend
This place is truly great. It is very clean, the staff is wonderful, and the restaurant is amazing. If you are walking the Camino, This place is a bit out of the way, but worry not!! Just call them when you enter Portomarin and they pick you up!!! They also drop you off on the Camino the next morning. They also help me book the room at the next stop, just because they are that cool. As mentioned, the rooms are very clean and many face the lake. A nice break from the albergues. I've had one of the best meals of my life in their restaurant. I highly recommend this place.
Pros: The host was really nice. The restaurant served good food for low prices. The room was clean. It was situated on the river, and the view from the shore was nice. They pick you off and drop you off in portomarin. Cons: There is no real way of getting to portomarin by foot. You can take a taxi by 5 euros. I tried going along the bank of the river, but it was too dangerous. Also - the wifi was bad. And the sound proofing wasn't that great either.
