5 / 5 Absolutely a top LGBTQi plus hotel which has a diverse team of workers. This hotel is a must stay for all seasoned boys or girls. Great for couples LGBTQi plus. Excellent pool at the top which is only open summertime.
There is a 2nd small pool in the lower floors with 6 loungers and hot tub fountain features plus excellent gym and massage service.
Breakfast is excellent at 17 euros and excellent bar. The hotel has really comfy beds and room amenities. Bring your own slippers or robe if you booked a standard room.
Washoom has bidet attached which works perfectly with adjustable temperature.
Sleep was perfect without any noise from the hallway.
I was able to order food from outside which arrived within 15 min
Kettle and fridge in room.
Air conditioning works perfectly.
Hotel is suitable for older people and people with disabilities.
5 / 5 I had a wonderful stay at Axel Hotel Bilbao. The location is fantastic, right near the market, the river, and the old town — perfect for exploring the city on foot.
The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and always willing to help, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The hotel is very clean, modern, and well-maintained, with no signs of damp or mold anywhere.
The breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of options and very good quality products.
Overall, Axel Hotel Bilbao exceeded my expectations — I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
5 / 5 Staff friendly and helpful. Our rooms were so clean and everything you need is supplied, hairdryer, iron, ironing board. Lovely views over river and old town. Great rooftop views. Only downside is area behind the hotel. Definitely not a place to wander, but actually have no need as everything to do and see is in front of hotel and along the river. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
5 / 5 Very nice, open minded hotel. Great breakfast. You can do work outs, enjoy a jacuzzi, the roof top pool or a massage. Located bankside river and very close to the old town Casco Viejo and the Mercado de la Ribera. Guggenheim or San Mames Stadium at 30 minutes walk.
4 / 5 The location was excellent — close to everything we wanted to see and do. The room was clean, tidy and beautifully furnished. Everything felt new and well-maintained. The staff were very friendly and always quick to respond to any request.
The main issue was the poor sound insulation. You can clearly hear when your neighbor opens or closes their door — it actually feels as if someone is using your own door.
Another point is the breakfast. Unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. It was hard to find something simple and tasty to eat. I tried the tortilla, which was very oily, and then the stewed vegetables, which at first seemed spoiled. Later, I asked the staff and they explained that vinegar is added to them — but honestly, the taste was really unpleasant. The next day they served cauliflower prepared in the same way, again with vinegar, and it wasn’t good either.
The selection was limited, mostly sweet pastries, which isn’t ideal if you prefer healthy food. There were almost no healthy options available.
