The area feels unsafe, specially by night. It’s not a Loft, it’s a very small room, and ours also had a small inner window with no light so it was a bit claustrophobic. For a night it’s fine, but try not to go around San Francisco.

My room was on the first floor without a view so it was rather dim and depressing. Good if you’re the kind of traveller who doesn’t like to spend much time in the room. Bath area has no door so don’t stay with a friend unless it’s that kind of relationship. Bed was actually super comfortable and just the right level of firm, lots of great solid pillows too

This was great hotel to stay at, for the price the room was great. It’s not big but again for the price you get a bargain. I stayed in the Sope room which has a king sized bed. Location of the hotel is good. Bilbao in general is a very walkable city and trains are very close, you can get where you need to be quickly. The two cons are the bed was not comfortable for my standards and the walls are thin. Other than that if I come back to Bilbao I will stay here.

The location is good, right next to the city center with great bars, but on the other side there is San Francisco district that arouses ambivalent feelings. Claustrophobic rooms, windows overlooking the walls, you have to turn on the light even on a sunny day. It's a bit scary. The staff doesn't speak a word of English.

I was initially very worried given the amount of negative reviews recently… but the general experience was good! I travelled with my 17 yo sister to Bilbao and stayed for 2 nights, we had the double room with the city view. First impressions were: loved the interior, loved the city view, loved power shower, loved the huge bed and comfy pillows. There was a mini fridge, safe and a coffee machine. Really decent area- within walking distance with the old town, market and the gran via. We didn’t feel unsafe but we did keep our guards up. Key access / codes were fair enough given the pandemic but you do wonder if the codes are changed between guests, even so, there was a lock, although we didn’t really check, I assumed it was a double lock… perhaps, if there isn’t one- Bilbao art lodge should install one… the only downside was when we entered the main property as well as the apartment, the automatic lights were slow to switch on, so can be quite dark at night. The information brochures needed replenishing. In a sense, bilbao art lodge lost some points for the personal touch/ hospitality part. In summary, we enjoyed our stay and really looked forward to the comfy bed every night.
