2 / 5 I would rate it lower but they allowed me to pay for reservations in person, which is not usually accepted by them and it is situated in a convenient part of downtown for a bargain. The bed was alright though you had to use one of the sheets as a makeshift curtain for your bed. A couple of the employees were also nice.
Those were the only good things I could say about this since this is actually an albergue and their name is misleading. The showers had no door or curtain so water would spill everywhere when showering as well as being quite moldy and I could smell the black mold every there.
Though my biggest gripe is THE LOCKERS DON'T WORK, THERE ARE NO SECURE PLACES TO STORE YOUR STUFF and you just have to pray that they don't get stolen when you sleep or are out and about. Though it seems they have at least one employee sleeping in every room and the one in mine was quite grumpy and in my first morning staying got mad that I wasn't leaving like the pilgrims that were staying in the same room though I would probably be quite grumpy if I had to stay here for a job. It also sucks that you can't stay in the lobby past midnight especially since I needed to do some work in the night. The area was somewhat sketchy though I never saw anything bad happening and outside of that this is a very convenient location as a tourist to be able to easily see all the parts of the city.
In the end I think this would only appeal for pilgrims on the camino.
1 / 5 It was one of my worst hostel experiences ever! First of als all, there was a rotten smell in the entrance hall and no one cared about it, when I pointed it out. Some of the other hostel guests were a bit weird, they came back late at night, one stared at me, … generally it was hard to sleep because of the stuffed air inside, but if you open the window bright light and lot of noise enters the room, finally at about 2 in the morning I was able to catch some sleep. It‘s a sketchy area. Unfortunately I cannot find anything good about the hostel :( … just don’t go there
2 / 5 I would never stay here again. The photos shown on google dont really portray the atmosphere of this place at all.
• The bathroom was so damp and gross all the time.
• There was one man working at reception who was SO extremely rude to me and my friends on multiple occasions.
• The whole atmosphere of the hostel is very depressing and the neighbourhood feels really dodgy.
• The kitchen fridges are also treated like a free for all so I wouldn’t bother putting food in there unless you want it to get eaten by other guests. They also need a major clean out.
• The lockers are also small and dont actually lock with a regular sized lock. So theres really no security for your belongings
Only positives I can think of is the water pressure in the shower was good and we found a good Asian supermarket across the road which had good snacks.
2 / 5 Location: good - 16 min walking distance from cathedral of bilbao, so close to the old city.
Service: no problems with staff, they were nice
Rooms: no problem with the beds, but the bathroom was a bit dirty, and there was no toilet seat.
Overall, I had a better experience at Poshtel, for the same price I had a room in a much nicer looking hostel there and a clean bathroom.
1 / 5 It should be 0! I arrived just before 9 and the door was locked. A guest let me in, reception was closed. There was a sign saying 9-9 but no one was there. Called and emailed many times then I just started knocking on rooms looking for an empty bed because the interior door was open. 45 minutes later I found the guy working there by banging on all the bedroom doors and I got checked in. Rubber pillow and mattress with sheets you put on yourself. They’ve never been washed, thankfully I travel with a sleeping bag. The room was super dirty and the bathroom unusable. Many much older guests looking like part of a half way house or rehab program. Not a hostel. Scary neighborhood and I felt very unsafe as a solo female traveler. Do not stay here.
