I did not do much research before booking this hotel, simply trusting in the voco brand of hotels and the high google reviews. So the below are my takeaways from the stay: What I like about the hotel: - The room is clean. - There's Google Chromecast in the room. - Decent hotel size. - There's supermarkets within 3 mins walk, laundromat is just 1 min walk away. What I don't like about the hotel: - There's no fridge in the room - My bad for not checking before booking and just assuming that there will be one, just because it is voco. - There's no in-room slippers - voco Madrid offers them though. - The streets outside the hotel are quiet and dark at night - Do take note if you are a solo traveler. There's also a slight uphill going to the hotel. - The strong corridor scent - It was so strong that I could smell it from my room. It was too intense for my liking when I was at the corridor. Overall, the stay was okay, but I probably will not stay there if I'm in Bilbao again. For it being a voco hotel, it did not live up to my expectation.
We had a very good stay at voco Bilbao - City by IHG. The hotel is not right in the city center, but the area was quiet and we enjoyed the nice view from our window. We received an unexpected upgrade to a spacious, clean room — we’re not sure why, mab because of some payment issues, but it was a great surprise. The room had a comfortable bed, sofa, iron, and daily coffee and water, which we really appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful, and overall we left with a very positive impression.
My flight was cancelled so Lufthansa booked me on this Hotel. The room had everything that I needed for one night and the employees were very kind. I was very happy that there was a small menu for us passengers that late in the evening. From what I could see the hotel lies quite a bit away from the next Metro Station, but only a short walk from the city center. I can't say anything about the breakfast, as I had to leave early.
Rooms were weirdly laid out, but somehow it works and clean. Bed was comfy. But what I loved most is the fact that they were very attentive to security and safety of their guests-I arrived at the hotel earlier, because my partner was travelling from elsewhere. And I really appreciate that when my partner arrived, they called to check in with me that my partner arrived, and said his name, and asked for my permission to give him keys. As a frequent female solo traveller, this means a lot. Great job! Also close to the city centre, around 15mins walk, and I think 30mins to Guggenheim.
Excellent hotel at an amazing price. It takes service to a higher level. Staff is super friendly and really want to help. Special mention to Chef Xabier, he is willing to cook specially for you, sharing his recipes and looking forward to please your culinary senses. Xavier is a definite plus.
