1 / 5 On the plus side, the location was great, but everything else about the guesthouse was terrible. The service was awful; they were like nosy neighbors constantly monitoring your stay. The furniture was awful, the mattresses were so worn you couldn't sleep, and the rooms smelled musty. Paying in cash... I definitely don't recommend it. There are much better accommodations nearby in the same town. We won't be back... but the town itself is beautiful.
1 / 5 If you like the smell of damp and musty, and you're crazy about dried blood stains on the sheets, you'll never want to leave.
"That's never happened in the forty years the boarding house has been open," according to the landlady. She theorized that I must have bled that night without realizing it, and of course, I was already doubting it; maybe I was a hemophiliac without knowing it (I have to get tested). After dismissing the idea of sporadic bleeding, and some more back-and-forth, the landlady admitted that, maybe, just maybe, the washing machine hadn't removed the stain properly, but she presented it as a crazy and implausible theory because it's improbable, and that she would change the sheets, but that I should have told her at two in the morning when I arrived. It's common knowledge that you should do a bedsheet check before going to bed in the middle of the night, and not the next morning when I saw the stain—another mistake of mine.
Another mistake I made (yet another one) was not fully understanding why the invoice/reservation I was given only showed half of the total amount I paid for the stay. But of course, after learning that I might have a blood condition, I wasn't in a position to think about such trivialities.
Nothing could be further from the truth than that, in the "forty years the guesthouse has been operating," someone would have done some creative accounting with the invoices.
One thing that gave me security was knowing that no one was going to steal my car, because there's an observation post right above the guesthouse, where they monitor who comes and goes with almost military effectiveness.
But in short, the proximity of the beach doesn't in any way make it worth staying here, but if you do decide to go, at least have the decency to go home feeling like a baby.
1 / 5 From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel uncomfortable. I wondered how we were going to sleep when there was only one double bed and we were just two kids.
Bad manners from the very first moment. The place is very nice for its location, but it smelled musty, and it was very old and neglected. The owner's only concern was to collect, but once she did, she barely spoke to us. I would never return.
4 / 5 An extraordinary place to spend a few days relaxing, surrounded by a fantastic landscape and a great beach. The best part is the attention and kindness of Isabel and her family; in short, they make you feel like family and right at home. Highly recommended.
