It is definitely in the 0 stars hotel category. The positive things are the location, that it’s cheep and the clean towels. The food downstairs was ok as well. There a lot of negative things about it but the worst is that the bed base was missing 3 consecutive wooden slates so when i laid down on that side I sinked so deep that I thought I was on my way into a portal to another world. It definitely has a horror film vibe!
This is a very bad hotel, our room didn't feel clean and there was not even a fan in the room in midsummer when it got to 35 degrees plus which shows how much they care about their guests. It was super noisy at all hours from the people in the hotel around us to the busy street outside. Impossible to get a decent night's sleep and overall very unpleasant experience. It's not worth what they charge, even if it's relatively low. Better to pay a bit more and have a much better experience or buy a tent and camp.
I don't understand all the super negative reviews. It was perfectly fine for 1 night on the Camino. Clean enough, comfy enough, no sign of bed bugs, proper hot shower... are people expecting luxury for €50\night or something?! It was totally fine. I slept great.
Stayed for one night passing through on the Camino… the building and rooms are very old and you have to check in at the bar as they have no reception. We were concerned about bed bugs all night after reading some other reviews but thankfully had none. The shower in the room was extremely old and had no pressure, the toilet seat was broken and there is a lot of noise from the streets and bars below! Just before we we to sleep there was a woman screaming in the hotel bar downstairs a d an ambulance arrived shortly after. Overall we wouldn’t recommend this place, you have a bed but don’t expect a good nights sleep!
I would definitely rate this a 4 star review as a 1 star hotel. I was very apprehensive staying here after reading many bad reviews on TripAdvisor. However I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in a great location in terms of the town itself and if on the Camino (as my friend and I are). The hotel room was clean and there was a kettle with tea and coffee which was a nice bonus as not many hotels in Spain or the Basque country offer this. The beds were clean, towels were clean and the shower was perfect after a long day hiking. There were also additional toilets outside the hotel room. We could open the window no problem and close the curtains. For a one star I really can't find much fault. Would recommend to anyone staying here.
