Hotel Gernika

I stayed in this hotel for one night while walking the Camino del Norté I see it has a few negative reviews, so I was apprehensive about staying there. However, I had a pleasant experience with extremely helpful staff and a nice breakfast. The rooms are clean and comfortable as well. And very close to the Camino path. The only negatives are that there is no life or soul in the hotel. It's just sleep and breakfast. They don't serve dinner either. But reception were kind enough to direct me to a restaurant serving food at the rare time of before 8pm. Don't expect much and it's perfect for what it is. A clean room, friendly reception and a nice breakfast.

Old fashioned hotel - in a good way. Started with the most welcoming reception I’ve had on this trip, it’s clear that the staff here care how their guests feel. Room was very comfortable and the location is excellent - right on the edge of the centre. Also very cyclist friendly with a good breakfast to start the day. I’d come straight back if visiting Guernica again (which I shall, as it’s a lovely town).

Not far from the beginning of town. About 8 mins walking from the center. It's a proper 3 star hotel with air conditioning which is a treat in comparison to other simpler options along Camino de Santiago. One issue is the water doesn't drain fast enough in the shower.

Great stay. Room larger than usual..felt luxurious in a slightly old fashioned way. Big bathroom with a window and natural light. Comfy bed..we didn’t have breakfast but was told it was great. Friendly and helpful guy on reception.

Very comfy one night stay while on the Camino. Great room and deck. Fabulous breakfast and served from 7:00am. Central to the old town and restaurants. One note- use the AC and don’t leave your door open like us- Mosquitoes 🦟! Otherwise fabulous, highly recommend.
