Overtly expensive room for 219e found on Booking... Yes high season and with four beds...but very worn and primitive furniture. Tiny tv did not work and you cannot even get a hot water kettle. No fridge either...grossly overpriced. Bathroom also elementary but with plenty of hot water and towels were fluffy. Nice view of RENFE tracks and a not too busy train station. Just above quite a noisy bar so you can improve you Basque and Soanish. Close to a few cigi shops and walking bridges leading to France which is over the river only a few steps away... Nice staff in adjacent hotel 50m next door ...which acts as a reception for the Pension Europa... Nice people but cannot help you too much. Cannot hire bikes anywhere unfortunately if there on weekend...
A very convenient stop-over when travelling to or from Hendaye; “cheap and cheerful “ if you book early and direct with the pension (one way we booked through Booking.com and paid significantly more!). The rooms are fairly small, but adequate; some have a nice balcony with a quite agreeable view. Reasonably comfortable, good ensuite bathroom, clean. Disadvantageous are that the rooms are on the first and second floors (UK floor numbering!) and there’s no lift; also reception is at the associated Hotel Aitana, a few doors away. (Another time we’d pay the extra €10 a night to stay there since they have a lift - that choice depends on how happy you are carrying you luggage upstairs.) Location is ideal for rail travellers - adjacent to Iran Ficuba station on the Euskotren line from San Sebastián to Hendaye, one stop from Hendaye. Alternatively it’s a fairly easy 10 minute walk from Hendaye SNCF station, over a pedestrianised bridge. The Hotel Aitana set breakfast included in most room rates is a good size although unremarkable in quality - but has the advantage of being available for a fairly early start.
We purposely booked this place due to its easy walking distance to train station. The rooms were nice and very clean. Only concern was restaurants nearby - we could hear the loud crowds through the night from open window.
Your basic budget hotel/pension, small but comfortable rooms. Open till late. The area is kind of rough and the local bars are pretty expensive, especially as you can walk across the border and get the same or better for half the price. There were issues when I stayed there but in fairness they did deal with them. The main thing going for it is its location.
Just don't go there. Only if u must. It's noisy, expensive, tiny room, tiny bed, staff s not friendly. At least it's quite clean. For this high price is not worth it.
