O Faro Apartments

I would not recommend staying here. My wife had a booking in place for a tour around Galicia. Unfortunately the day before we were due to stay the area was locked down for a COVID outbreak so we were unable to get to the hotel. The other hotels we had booked offered a refund and advised us to stay away of course. The manager of O Faro however insisted that we should come (despite the government regulations) and advised that we should ignore the COVID regulations in place. Of course these are difficult times for us all and these kinds of incidents identify the true professionalism of individuals. It is concerning that this hotel therefore has no concern for peoples well being and safety during these times and hence why i wanted to leave a post for anyone else thinking of travelling around here - there must be more sensible and understanding hotels out there who would be more deserved of the custom than this one.

We didn't get to meet the owner, although they gave us the keys at the shop downstairs. The decor is lovely and the apartment was warm; the only problems are parking and the fact that the bedroom faces a busy street, making it quite noisy. Also, of the three or four lamps, only one worked. The cleaning was fine, though.

100% recommended. Very spacious, stylish, and well-located apartment. The host, Plácido, was very kind, attentive, and friendly. We were welcomed with a very nice gift (a bottle of wine), by the way. We would definitely come back.

A complete rip-off. Besides being incredibly expensive, it doesn't offer anything advertised on Booking.com. There's no bar, no playground, and they don't even offer breakfast. They're completely unresponsive to inquiries, and I know for a fact that other guests have received rude and arrogant responses. The apartments smell like sewage because the plumbing isn't properly installed. They didn't even leave a cleaning cloth. Of course I stayed there, but a friend of mine made the reservation.

First of all, I don't recommend this place. Here are the good and bad things about the apartments or the Ribadeo lighthouse: ❌ It has many defects, such as the blind in the living room/dining room, which is broken and doesn't fully lower. ❌ The apartment basically doesn't have a table, but rather a small piece of furniture that can fit two plates at most (see photo). ❌ We rented for 4 people, and the apartment, as mentioned, doesn't have a table (there's no photo of it on Booking.com, so you don't know when you book). There were only 3 chairs, although after a request, they brought us an extra one. However, if I rent for 4, there should be enough room for 4 people to eat... Well, there isn't. ✔️ It's very central. ❌ The apartment is on the first floor with windows overlooking the street, which is heavily traveled day and night. ❌ The apartment overlooks a restaurant and some apartment buildings: not a great view. ❌ The washing machine doesn't work properly, and there's no dryer, as indicated on Booking.com. ✔️ The lady in charge of check-in and check-out is very friendly and helpful. ❌ The same can't be said for the owner of the apartment (whom we haven't even seen). After we complained about the lack of space to eat (without any photos of it appearing on Booking.com), he told us that "we should have rented the larger apartment." Note that the "smallest" apartment was charged at almost 300 euros per night, and that our complaint wasn't about the size of the apartment, but about the fact that if I rent an apartment for 4, I expect it to be equipped for 4, not just have 4 beds (one of which is a sofa bed). ❌ The TV needs some work to be done to work properly. ❌ The cleaning was pretty poor, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. ✔️ It has some nice touches in the decor. ➡️ In short, as I said, I don't recommend it because there are many more negative points than positive ones. At most, I would rent it for 50/60 euros per night, certainly not for the price they charged us.
