5 / 5 We have just returned from a fabulous stay in Ribadisella at the Gran Hotel. Its location is perfect with stunning views both out to see, up the river and into the overlooking mountains. The staff at the hotel could not have been more friendly, kind and helpful. They really went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. The hotel itself is very nice. Our room was little on the small side but still very nice. The one thing to note is that our room didn't have aircon (we knew that when we booked it) but with a window overlooking the beach we were able to get a nice night breeze. All in all I would thoroughly recommend both the hotel and this lovely little town.
4 / 5 Stayed five nights at the end of July. Fantastic location in a beautiful town, with great views over the sandy beach (safe for swimming), lovely swimming pool, helpful staff and great breakfasts. Before booking I read the reviews and was a little anxious about potential noise, thin walls and poor quality beds. However, the issues weren't that bad. Yes, there is no A/C so we needed to keep the window open at night and yes, the beach gets cleaned, with noise lasting around 45 minutes starting at 6.00am (by then it was fine to get up and close the window). The beds were comfy, but perhaps in need of replacing, same with some of the furniture in the room.
A kettle would be useful, so we brought a travel one with us and kept fresh milk in the mini-bar fridge.
The hotel is quite quiet at night, with not much going on in the bar, although plenty in the town centre, about a 15 min walk over the bridge where there are plenty of places to eat. There are a couple of cafes on the front and a bar and cafe 5 mins from the hotel, plus a useful supermarket (closed Sundays).
There are few English speaking people staying in the hotel or in Ribadesella itself.
Biggest draw back was that the price is expensive. It was the Spanish holidays and there were no other rooms available in the town for the weekend we were there.
No car rental in Ribadesella - I found one in Llanes, where a 30min bus ride dropped me off 2 minutes from the rental agency. Plenty of places along the coast and the Picos to explore.
5 / 5 Fantastic room in stunning location.
We had a third floor room with a huge picture window and balcony looking over the river and town.
Our room was immaculate. The King size bed was extremely comfortable with quality sheets. Huge luxurious towels.
Fantastic staff, helpful and friendly.
5 / 5 Our experience was fabulous! The room was extremely clean, had beautiful views out and had a balcony. Great sheets, pillows, nice shower, & had the thickest towels. Breakfast was an extensive buffet with lots of cut fruit, pastries, eggs, and everything else (lattes, tea, tostada con tomate, etc). In the evening we thought we'd have to go into town for dinner, but the cafeteria (with a beautiful view of the beach) was open and had a nice menu. The waiters were happy to get you whatever you needed. Very friendly place. My husband said they made him coffee at 6 am! They had a room to store our bicycles. I recommend it and I would love to go back!
5 / 5 Beautiful location beach side. Nice pool as well. Breakfast was fantastic. Staff was attentive. Parking is paid for unless you get a spot on the street. We were lucky on that aspect.
