2 / 5 I stayed at Studio Aranzazu in Santander and it was a very disappointing experience. When I arrived, the receptionist was extremely rude and dismissive. I had forgotten my passport at my friend’s house and presented my U.S. driver’s license, but instead of explaining the policy politely, she spoke to me in a derogatory and condescending way. Even when I showed her a copy of my passport, which she eventually accepted, her attitude was unnecessarily unpleasant and unprofessional.
The hotel itself did not make up for the poor service. The cleanliness was far below expectations, and the facilities felt neglected. The only positive aspect was the central location, but that alone is not enough to justify the lack of hospitality and care.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. The staff’s rude behavior and the poor conditions made my stay uncomfortable, and there are certainly better options in Santander.
4 / 5 The rooms are simple and quite essential, however they have all the necessary, that include a small fridge and stove, perfect for a few days ideal stays.
Staff was friendly and very helpful with turistic information, as in many Spain location, there isn't daily housekeeping.
The location is in the central new area, in one of the major calles, with easy access to the port via bus lines, e-bike rentals (there's a spot right in front), or a short walk.
I suggest take the morning coffee (and pastry) at the nearby Peter y Pan cafe.
1 / 5 I had my reservation cancelled the day before my arrival. I received a WatsApp from a sketchy looking account and I was told to look out for an "SMS" to do a payment. This was the day before my arrival. This seemed pretty odd as texts can be easily fraudulent. They had instead sent an email which was overlooked. They cancelled the reservation and would not answer their phones, or speak with me and totally ignored all contact.
4 / 5 The hotel is located in the city center. The room was small, with a tiny kitchen and all the necessary equipment for cooking. It cost €100 per night on July 25, 2025, but it was the cheapest option I could find.
4 / 5 It is a simple hotel, rooms have a small fridge and stove, great for staying a few days. The only issue with the room is a tiny shower with an infuriating curtain that sticks to your body. Service is good and basic, no daily cleaning service. The location is unbeatable just off the Alameda de Ojeda and within walking distance to practically everything in town.
