Very basic accommodation and a somewhat surreal experience. When we arrived we were shown the property very briefly and it seemed like we were the only guests there, save for a few other guys hanging around, but unclear if they were staff or guests. This continued throughout our stay, with seemingly random people showing up and hanging around. It was unclear who was in charge or part of the staff and who were guests. The first night at 3am we were woken up by people (staff?) arriving loudly in the house after, presumably, a night out. The second night they seemed to be holding an Italian karaoke night that lasted until midnight. Wanted to complain, but I had no clue who to complain to as it was not clear who worked there. The whole property is in a good location, but it could use some upgrades and improvement in operations. Additional edit: as can be seen the manager or owner responded, and all I can say is that I’ve been to many surf hostels around the world and I’ve never had an experience like this. Blaming it on the guests that they chose the wrong place instead of actually listening to feedback and doing something about it, tells you everything about how this place is run.
Best place to stay if you like surfing, partying and having good time! The location is just a walk to the famous Playa de Somo, where you can reach directly with your wetsuit and board. The hostel is very friendly, with some place to chill, sunbathing, wash your board and stuff. The staff is very gentle and friendly and the best thing is that you can get some Surf Safari to check new spots and surf in other beach breaks in Catambria. I really recommend this surf house:)
Excellent place to surf, chill and enjoy good vibes! Excellent staff really kind and friendly I’ve found the surf house really clean and comfortable, 5min away from the beach. The house is perfectly located and walking distance by the beach, supermarket, bars and restaurants in Somo. The staff and the owner go surfing everyday and always try to bring along all the guests which is a great opportunity to bond with everyone staying at the hostel. Sometimes dinners are prepared at the surf house, if not there is always something to do all together at night. My holiday in Somo was my first approach to surf and staying at the SurfToLive house allowed me to full immerge in this world and lifestyle, meet amazing people and enjoy the beautiful playa de Somo everyday. I'll be back soon :)
I had a fantastic time staying in the SURFtoLIVE house in Somo. All the staff were really friendly and made me feel at home as well as helping me with my surfing and being very encouraging! The staff work really hard to keep everything clean and their guests happy. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it! The walk to the surf beach was perfect and the location is ideal for beginners like me. Somo is such a beautiful spot, not too touristy but has everything you need for a holiday. The ferry ride from Santander is regular and very enjoyable. Staying in the surf house is ideal for anyone who wants a peaceful break, great company and delicious food cooked for them!
