Beware that if you come on a Sunday they will tell you the restaurant in town is open and it’s not and you will end up going to bed on an empty stomach.
It's a new place, but it's very nice. It has two entrances, one of them right on the Camino de Santiago. It's in the very center. It has private rooms with en-suite bathrooms and bunk beds. There's also a common area with a kitchen for everyone to use. There are two vending machines there, one for coffee and another with drinks and some snacks. There's a place to leave your boots and a washer and dryer. There's also a large garden to relax in. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
It has the best location in Armenteira. We arrived very tired and, to our surprise, it had an entrance directly from the Camino. The Monastery is right across the street, as are the two restaurants. The decor is exquisite and it's very clean. The staff's attention was outstanding, especially the advice Silvia gave us. She helped us with the next stages of the Camino and answered all our questions. She also told us about the pilgrim's blessing at the monastery at 7:00, which was a beautiful event. The best hostel since Porto.
We stayed one night in a double room with bathroom at this hostel in Armenteira, on the Spiritual Variant of the Portuguese Way. The building is brand new (practically just opened!). It's clean and equipped for every pilgrim's need (kitchen, washing machine, clothesline and/or dryer). The location is excellent, a two-minute walk from the monastery and two restaurants. The owner and staff are incredibly kind; you can tell they're passionate about their work! Buen camino to everyone!
