I stayed there this march and we saw some bed bugs, one of the pilgrims got bitten three times. We have seen 5 bed bugs in total. I directly informed the hostel and they said they are going to take care of the problem immediately, very reactive. I just wanted to inform any future pilgrims who is planning on staying there.
Whole place absolutely spotless. Curtains and comfy bed meant I had the best night sleep of my whole camino. Host very pleasant with great English, would definitely stay here again
Very kind man who owns the albergue, has hiked many Caminos before - in light of that, I found the facilities a bit lacking. The showers were button showers with no control over temperature, and you have to person the button every 5 seconds or it’ll turn off. The floor plan was very open, resulting in the space being very loud even if people weren’t making a ton of noise. In the morning, the coffeemaker is comedically loud and unless you sleep like a rock, it will for sure wake you up. The albergue was clean, and with a few improvements could be really lovely.
This was by far the best Albergue on our entire Camino trip! The people behind this Albergue have a heart of gold and being pilgrims themselves and having walked the Camino 20+ times they know exactly what a pilgrim needs and they truly put their entire heart and soul into this calling. Their epic pub has the best beer selection I have ever seen in my entire life and I played music there two nights in a row. My Mama and I wanted to move in haha this is how much we enjoyed our stay. We have had not only a roof over our head but made friends for life. Thank you Rui and Venda we love you sooo much ❤️❤️ The entire village is so awesome! A real gem that made it so hard to leave Portugal!
1) The photos and reservation system suggest that the beds are in 3 separate rooms (twice two bunk beds and once four bunk beds) but that's not the case. It's all in one area and in your bed you can here what's happening in the bathroom, in the kitchen, outside in the center. Not a calm place. 2) The night we stayed was a Saturday night (expect party loudness through all the night) and probably because the owner was planning a deep cleaning the day after (which is great) there were only three of us. Thank God because if there were more people I have no idea how we would fit. The space is really small. 3) Maybe because there were only three of us (I don't know if this happens every night), the owner decided it was okay to come and clean the bathroom shortly after midnight. Obviously, it woke us up, scared a little bit as at first we weren't sure what was happening. Overall: for the price it's not a good value, in our view the photos are misleading. Good beds, comfortable, but otherwise don't expect much.
