A bit dated but adequate and clean. Walking distance to Aldi and a lovely bakery in one direction and the beach and promenade in the other.
Great place, great workers. The price was even better (we paid 60€ for three person), but I was so disappointed by the manager's rudeness, who does not know how to treat clients.
Great and welcome hospitality with dinner at this charming resort. We are cycling the camino and this was booked in advance. Dinner was cooked and served to us-I had baked salmon and spinach in a puff pastry crust, and my husband had sliced pork filet in mushroom sauce. We had soup - lentil for me and chicken broth for my husband and creme brulee for desert. The owner brought our bikes round the apartment saying it was safer to do so. Breakfast was served to us with a large pot of fresh coffee with hot milk and a generous supply of cereals bread cakes etc. The receptionist also was very kind and went out of her way to find black tape to fix my bike mounted phone holder which had cracked. I'd recommend this venue and only a pity that the weather was not good enough for a swim.
We are Global Discovery Members and booked this resort, Club Pinhal da Foz in Esposende, Portugal. We reserved a studio for the week in January/February. Our first impression when seeing the apartment was how cold it was. The heater in the only bedroom which is upstairs did not work and the downstairs heater barely put out any heat. The receptionist tried heat in 2 other apartments which barely worked either. The staff brought us the only space heater they had. We used the kitchen oven and a space heater to try and stay warm. And there is not enough hot water for 2 people to shower. Not a good experience when there is little heat in the apartment. The bathroom is on the first floor next to the kitchen, not near the bedroom at all. If you must use the bathroom during the night, you must come down the steep stairs. The wifi doesn't work on the second floor. No hairdryer either, you must borrow a hairdryer at the front desk in the morning and immediately return it so others may use it too. The front desk could not even provide paper towels or kleenex when we asked. And the walls are paper thin. Of the many apartments here, they choose to put the only other guests next to us so we can hear them talk and laugh. After finding a dead cockroach in a glass, we could not spend another day. We stayed here only 3 nights. And the tapas bar was closed, reopening after we left. Not a good experience for us.
DO NOT STAY HERE - UNSAFE! MOLD & MILDEW. From the moment you walk into the reception area you are overwhelmed by the smell of mildew and disinfectant. There is NO air-conditioning nor fans, as such there is no air circulation which leads to a prime breeding ground for mildew & mold. Our unit was no different, stuffy, stale, smells of mildew & disinfectant, dirty glasses etc. We had booked a week here but only staying one night. If we haven't spent 6 hours driving and the late hour we would have left immediately. For this establishment to be rated 4.3 stars in Esplanende goes beyond a travesty and falls into the category of FAKE REVIEWS ... no other explanation. Front desk staff indifferent, useless and powerless. My wife and I have been traveling internationally for over a year and this is the worst seen so far.
