One of the best Albergue's I stayed at during my Camino adventures. The building itself is charming and very well located. There's an amazing view on the bridge from one of the rooms. The price is low and the accommodation is basic, which truly espouses the Camino's purpose. The Camino is not a luxurious stroll around the countryside. The Camino is a spiritual journey, testing ones ego, in order to grow ones soul. There can be no growth without suffering. I truly appreciate the volunteers running these municipal albergue's. I've read some of the one-star reviews from guests expecting luxury for 5 euro per night. We call them 'plastic pilgrims'.

Be aware of a few issues: the beds are not very comfortable, especially the pillows (they’re terrible). There are no individual showers in the ladies’ bathroom, no washing machine, and the kitchen isn’t fully equipped for cooking. The price was very good ($5 EUR in 2025), but the value for money isn’t really worth it, especially if you’ve walked a long distance and wanna just to relax!

Good place for sleeping in Ponte de Lima. The door close at 9pm but appart from that, it’s great. Clean, kitchen well equipped and friendly staff. 5€ price

Clean and well maintained. Welcoming stuff. They don't supply linens or blanckets. Open showers with no privacy. The beds are comfortable.

The only albergue which I left shortly after arriving. There are some fantastic albergues along the way of the Camino Portugues and unfortunately this is very disappointing in comparison. The lady working there was extremely cold, unwelcoming, unfriendly. Very inhospitable. No understanding of the importance of a warm welcome after a long day of walking. No disposable sheet or pillowcase provided for the bed - this has never happened to me on any Camino I have done. The hostel has zero atmosphere. No nice decoration, coziness, no book/clothes exchange which every other hostel has. No place in the kitchen where past pilgrims can leave food or whatever. I guess it all gets thrown away. There is no living room or communal space. Just one very sterile kitchen with a small fridge. The bathroom seemed broken in places eg. broken locks on doors. I don't think the people who run this place have much concern with atmosphere or pilgrims experience. Even if you are staying in public albergues all the way on the Camino, avoid this one and book something else.
