A lovely place to stay, I will certainly return. The shared spaces are clean, big and beautiful. My room had a private bathroom, a great view and was very clean. The door system feels secure and our interactions with the host were great. He is very passionate about the local history and is a great resource. Thank you!

Everything about this hotel/Hostel is excellent. Comfortable private rooms, well appointed common room and a great garage for our bicycles. The owner is a pleasant and very knowledgeable person and does everything to make your stay enjoyable. This is set up for a perfect place for cyclists to spend their time in Tomar. We highly recommend this establishment to travellers.

My husband and I stayed here and we felt very comfortable here! The rooms are basic but very well kept and clean. The shared space is cozy and the location was perfect! António was very responsive and helpful and we enjoyed learning from him about the history of the city. He also gave helpful advice on where to eat. Overall and great hostel experience.

We (my father and myself) really enjoyed our stay at the Residencial Avenida during our pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella. The hostel is a 5 minute walk from the train station in a building dating from the 1950's. The beds are comfortable and the room and bathroom was clean. They have a laundry service which includes a wash and dry for 6 euros. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a special communal basket for pilgrims. One of the highlights was the big communal eating space with a massive window that overlooks a part of the city. However, the best part of staying here was the owner Antonio. Antonio has a passion for historic architecture and the history of his city. He provided us with so much fascinating information relating to the Knight's Templar and the convent. We really enjoyed our chats with him and would recommend this hostel to anyone interested in learning more about this beautiful town and country.

Don't be fooled by the other review, which incidentally, was made by the owner. S'up Antonio! I can not, in good faith, suggest this hostel to ANYONE. It mixes the personal with the business. I like a hostel where you are free to do your own thing, and socialize as much or as little as you'd like, but this is not the case at Avenida, where Antonio ambushes you at every corner! I stayed here for a month and had to leave early. Once the owner accepted my money, he completely changed. I was moved from my initial room, to a cold, damp, sewage scented room on the main floor, beside his room! Oh joy! I guess once he knew he had my money, he figured he could get more off of me, and so he began to find ways to try to charge me. This was all, of course, depending on his moods. I then tried to avoid him-I'm staying at the hostel, I don't have to love the staff! But this was impossible. You have no privacy in this hostel, and if Antonio has selected you as the person to bully, God help ya! I have been told that they will do construction in the next months, but given how many corners have been cut already, I can't imagine what they'll use. Perhaps the up-there-in-age bread, used for the breakfast would make a suitable drywall. I wonder how many of his "friends" he can convince to counter this review. Good luck!
