A beautiful, historic, and quiet albergue coming after close to 30km of walking from Porto. Maria's kindness saved me from a big jet-lagged mistake wherein I had lost the adaptor that makes a U.S. phone charger able to plug into Portuguese and Spanish outlets. I have no idea how many tens of kilometers of walking I would have to have done to find a similar thing, and she gave me one from her personal collection. If I were ever to do the Portuguese camino from Porto again, I could imagine taking a bus 15 or so km to the edge of the city development in the afternoon and just walking a few hours to this as a wonderful first stop. Now I am back in ordinary life, and missing the serendipity and kindness that make the camino so special. The first night at this place was one of my favorites and got me off to a perfect start for the 12 day and 300km route I ultimately ended up doing.

I really loved the tranquility of the place. But most of all, Maria a beautifull soul that warmly welcomed me while my Camino last year. Jacob

This was my first stop on my camino and it definitely gave me a great start and insight to the whole point of camino de santiago:) it’s a beautiful and spiritual place with a lot of space. They also offer breakfast for few extra euros, I recommend to take it cause I didn’t and than regretted it when I saw what kind of atmosphere it had.

A lovely experience staying in the old monastery. Being January it was very quiet, just a few pilgrims. The rooms are basic, single beds, no bunks. It was cold but there are also blankets provided. Really friendly hospitalera and his puppy. Perfect place to stay on the first night from Porto.
