It's a 500 year old manor house that was completely restored with careful attention to the details of the times. It's in the center of town and easily accessible to all the sites of Viana. The staff are extremely friendly, courteous and accommodating. The breakfast choices were excellent. Lots of protein choices, yogurt, pastries and fresh fruit. The coffee was very good. One of my favorite breakfast choices.
A very pleasant one night stay. Staff were friendly and courteous. We received a free upgrade to a suite when we checked in (not sure why but a nice surprise). The bedroom was spacious, comfortable and clean. We ate in the tapas bar and the food was good and the craft brews were excellent (we both chose IPAs). A special word of thanks to the reception staff who were very kind to me when I was feeling unwell the following morning when we checked out. I was able to rest in the library until it was time to catch our bus. Highly recommend!
We have spent just one night at Casa Melo Alvin and the experience has been super! I strongly recommend this place. It is right in the centre of town, the breakfast is really nice and most of all the staff, really helpful.
Nice historic hotel. 500 years old and within walking distance of downtown. Rooms are clean but AC was broken, no maintenance on staff that night and no alternative rooms available. Beds are FIRM so be prepared.
My experience at this hotel was unfortunately not satisfactory. Although I paid full price, I could hardly sleep in the beds. The main bed was uncomfortable, but the extra bed we requested was even worse. The room was a disappointment. It was full of dust, and it seemed like it hadn't been cleaned properly in weeks. The fact that some rooms were connected with doors that could be opened on one side was particularly annoying as it resulted in a lack of privacy. You could hear every noise and conversation from the room next door. The breakfast was okay, but it couldn't make up for the negative experience with the room. It is a pity that the hotel does not put more emphasis on the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. All in all, my stay at this hotel was disappointing. I can't recommend it to anyone, unfortunately.
