I originally stayed here because of the name Emilia (my middle name). Little did I know what an experience I would have. I had a whole half of the house with windows opening out into the town square. I was also spoiled with a concert. Breakfast was placed in a cute little drawer with plenty of options. I appreciated the complimentary water and bottles of wine for purchase for around 8euro. I am so thankful for literally stumbling on this place (I had to take a day off from the Camino due to an injury).
This place and the owner/manager are the best. It has spacious rooms and lovely hot showers. They provide a well stocked and laid out spacious kitchen/hang out space. They give each guest breakfast and snack food that is just wonderful. I highly recommend this accommodation if visiting Viana do Costello, Portugal. The location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and even doing laundry
Everything about the stay here was lovely. From the warm welcome to the calming energy in the building to the decor and the delicious breakfast. The room was super comfortable and the building felt safe and secure. Sofia and rami are absolute sweethearts and I hope we cross paths another time. They seem to have created a lovely calming space in the middle of an otherwise busy town. I really want to go back!
Last year we stayed at Dona Emília at the end of a the first part of our Camino de Santiago. This year we returned to begin the next stage of our walk. Dona Emília was just as good as we remembered, and it felt great to 'come home' to! It is extremely comfortable and is a very calm and relaxing place to stay. With such great facilities and such a wonderful location in the town I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Viana do Castelo. **** Last year's review.. We have just spent a wonderful four nights at Dona Emília Guesthouse in Viana do Castelo. The location of the building, the comfort of the bedrooms, the style and function of the common areas, and the usability of the shared kitchen, are all exceptional. The welcome and friendliness of the hosts was perfect, too. Dona Emília is a wonderful place and we do very much hope to return.
Perfect overnight rest stop on the Camino. Stayed in the Guest House (3 minutes from the main hotel) in the Zen Single: small but quiet, with coffee and tea. Just enough for one person. Service is especially good: there’s no staff at the Guest House, but a person from the hotel personally delivered a breakfast box to me—so very helpful! Book directly on their website to save a bit of money. (4-stars not 5 only because the bathroom is especially small and water gets all over the floor from the tiny sink and shower.)
