3 / 5 We really wanted to like this stay. The view was stunning of the river and the amenities were nice. Unfortunately part of the reason we decided to stay was access to the gym, and that was closed at hours that it was supposed to be open. The front desk couldn't be bothered to help us open a wine bottle. We tried to follow the rules and bought swim caps for our family at 30 euros (10 per cap), but we got down to the pool and both days not everyone was wearing them... sooo we should've skipped making an overpriced purchase and just swam without? The room had a weird stain in the carpet that was covered awkwardly with a lamp. We really liked the city though. Some of the staff was very kind - specifically Emerson at the bar and the man who runs the breakfast buffet were both lovely. Those two gentlemen were the best part of the stay.
3 / 5 Lovely hotel with the view on the lake and not far from the sea. Unfortunately terrible instant coffee on the breakfast - too concentrated and after I tasted had unpleasant fat and bitter taste in my mouse, then my stomach had unpleasant feeling for few hours … Staff should take care of their coffee machines and quality of it. In the room in the bathroom was the black mold - also bathroom was not too well cleaned… again something on what management should pay attention. Quality Quality. The place it self is lovely, with old charm.
1 / 5 o Not Approach This Hotel – The Worst Experience in My 68 Years of Travel!
I booked two nights at Santana Hotel & SPA after a 20 km walk on the Portuguese Camino, expecting five-star comfort. Instead, I experienced one of the worst stays of my life:
I was given a ground-floor room with direct street access. The balcony door could not be locked, leaving the room unsafe.
No internet connection in the room, despite repeated failed attempts to fix it. I had to go to the lobby just to get online.
The safe was broken and unusable, even the receptionist couldn’t make it work.
After three hours of waiting for solutions, I was told to look for another hotel myself.
I couldn’t enjoy the spa at all, as my entire evening was wasted on these problems.
Despite being a solo traveler, I was charged the rate of a double room.
This hotel is old, poorly maintained, full of failures, and managed with no care for guests.
I left frustrated, exhausted, and with extra expenses.

1 / 5 My experience so far is shoddy at best. Poor sullen service. Most importantly it appears that the hotel is giving itself fraudulent reviews - the past 50 reviews on Booking.Com rate the hotel as "exceptional" without reason or comment or reviewer names or surnames - clearly fictitious, or written by the front desk or staff. Booking.Com should do more to verify the authenticity of the reviews on their site.
4 / 5 This is my 3rd time in the hotel. Everything is fine with the rooms. The Staff is very helpful. Only thing is the bar was closed and the restaurant is opening at 19:30. So there is nowhere you can sit and drink some coffee or beer in the hotel till that time. But the cafes near by the river is 10 min away by walk from the hotel.
