This place is amazing! The service from Joseph was outstanding. The food is incredible. Every aspect of the Hotel Akerreta is top notch. Even staying in Martin Sheen’s room 😊 Not open for passing trade, this establishment only caters for patrons who have booked a room and once you do, I guarantee, you will not be disappointed.

While right off the Camino there is nothing else in this village. Be warned when booking. Property itself is historic and well renovated. But— after walking 2 long days, there was no one at the desk initially (at 4pm-common check in time). He eventually showed up. The reason for the one star review is the food… limited Dinner options. Only seating at 8pm. I understand that it is typical to dine later in Spain but ZERO options for something else. And the food was terrible. Inedible cod stew and VERY dry chunk of chocolate cake. Breakfast was burnt croissants and some toast and cheese. Weak coffee and warm juice. Best to book in Zibiri or Larrasoana if you can.

We loved our stay at Hotel Akeretta. We arrived a had a few celebration beers after our days hike from Roncesvalles on the patio…..beautiful setting. The historic hotel is very clean and has been our best stay in Spain so far. The evening meal was so delicious too!!! Everything was absolutely perfect. Also the proprietor was very friendly and extremely helpful (I ended up leaving a key item for going light on the Camino behind and he was instrumental in getting it back to me…..went above and beyond. We will highly recommend Hotel Akeretta to others.

Beautiful hotel, simple but comfortable rooms, incredible views, dinner was amazing and Josef was a welcoming host.

Stopped on our Camino and they did not have any drinks to buy, nor did they offer us to refill our water.... UPDATE: After 5 km the owner of the establishment came on his electric bike and chased me and my friend with his dog apparently after reading the original review... He came close and threatened us that when we reach Pamplona two or three from his men will be waiting us and cut our throat, he asked us if we wanted more problems etc. Clearly looking to confront, saying he know knows our faces and so on. There were two more piligrims from the Netherlands observing all that. The police has been informed and I have put a denuncia immediately. The personality of this man is a shame to the Camino, to Navarra and to España and its tourism sector. This bad attitude was not seen in any other of the 40 countries I have been to as a traveller or lived in...piligrims, AVOID!!!
